1  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Need help finding some things (win 8.1) on: May 30, 2015, 09:29:25 pm
The strange thing is, the menu bg loads if I use a windows 8 based theme as the main msstyle ans select it to load the start meu from theme in sib. But if I load a 8.1 theme, the menu does not load from the theme.

8.1 theme:

Loading Windows 8 theme in windows style build and selecting to load the start menu theme from msstyle in sib:

2  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Need help finding some things (win 8.1) on: May 30, 2015, 07:04:14 pm
That did the trick. Thank you so much XD  I have been searching for that for so long. haha.  All that is left to do is find that pesky menu haha

for "2 and 3" try  Styles > TextStyle > BodyText   It works for me
3  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Need help finding some things (win 8.1) on: May 29, 2015, 05:29:54 pm
Its already set to white but the text still shows black in the control panel.

here is the dl for it http://simplexdesignsart.deviantart.com/art/Adobe-CC-536072172

Actually 2 and 3 are Fonts & System Metrics > WINDOWTEXT:COLOR

I don't know why that's not showing for you. Try restarting Explorer for it to show.
4  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Need help finding some things (win 8.1) on: May 28, 2015, 04:50:54 pm
Well Start Menu > Menus > Basic > Toolbar > Button > Normal also works.

But if you don't have the toolbar location or that doesn't work for some reason then you probably don't have the button either....

nope, haha

Well the start menu template I used was one of the styles included in Start is back Plain8.msstyle  the only sections I can edit are under Start Menu > Panels > Aero/Basic

Its just really strange how its loading that menu BG from nowhere..
5  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Need help finding some things (win 8.1) on: May 28, 2015, 05:51:14 am
Background  is Start Menu > Menus > Basic > Toolbar image in 7 maybe in SIB which I don't use

You can't change those black textcolors

the sib menu file I use does not have that location :/

And in the main theme, its there but does not affect the image.
6  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Need help finding some things (win 8.1) on: May 28, 2015, 02:09:07 am
Hey there, these things are bugging the crap out of me. Searched everywhere and cant seem to find them. Where would these be located?

1. Menu BG

2. Black text color

3. Black text hover color

4. Black text hover color

7  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Windows 7 style for Windows 10 on: May 27, 2015, 10:03:43 pm
Yeah, the min I loaded up the preview to try what was shown.. I was just sad. To bad its a mock up 8(   To make things worst, jumplist now are no longer skin-able. The only company I know that can pull off all of these shortcomings is Stardock. I might start developing for that program if it makes it to windows 10. (Thats if they can get things skinned on the modern ui)

Would have been great if it was real, I have give up hope on Windows 10 though and I think Tihiy may have as well as I have not seen him announce any recent working versions of SIB for a long while now.
8  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Windows 7 style for Windows 10 on: May 24, 2015, 02:45:36 am
No, not without porting and not the complete theme, Taskbar and Start Menu will be lost

grim have a look...  This may be good news for themes for windows 10. Not sure about the taskbar buttons though.

9  Help / Windows 10 / Windows 10 Build 10061 on: April 23, 2015, 04:09:42 pm
It seems as though MS is making it yet again harder to theme windows 10... Taskbar background properties are no longer in the theme files. Thats 2 things now (Taskbar BG & Taskbar Buttons) we cannot touch via visual style.

In build 10049, you could skin the show desktop button like so

But it also seems to be the same case as the tasbar/taskbar buttons.
10  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Build 10041 on: April 23, 2015, 07:54:05 am
I was able to make the show desktop button function similar to how it did on windows 7 using some magic on the taskbar image and adjusting the width of the show desktop button to 17. Only wish there was a way to get rid of the dark bg behind the clock and remove the white line between the clock/show desktop button.

11  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Porting 8.1 vs to 10 on: October 03, 2014, 06:28:28 am
Its better to just manually reimport all of your images rather than reuse a 8.1.1 style on 10. Less buggy and %100 safer in terms of black screens.
12  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 02, 2014, 04:08:55 am
I tried something similar before and figured it wasn't going to work out due to that bug. Why you do this MS?
At least we know that WSB is working on Windows 10 Smiley

Yeah MS really messed up on that part. Worse thing is aeroglass/winareo glass are both broken on 10 XD

I am utilizing them nice 1px borders though. That's a nice bonus Cheesy
13  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 02, 2014, 02:54:18 am
Working on a style for 10, however that titlebar bug is going to be a pain XD

14  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 01, 2014, 09:16:46 pm
That would explain my black screen XD

ONE seems to work then break when I log off or restart.  Had snapshots on my VMware to revert but I think it may be the culprit.
15  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 01, 2014, 08:39:36 pm
i'm just about to install this technical preview, do i need uxtheme patcher to make the themes to work?

Yes. And I black screened testing a new theme I made XD  Have unzip my vm backup. lol
16  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 01, 2014, 07:38:26 pm
ONE seems to be working,.
Not looked yet but I'm guessing the UIFILES that  control the 2 control panel images have changed, those are the only changes that aren't showing that I can see so far.Maybe I need a reboot.
The startmenu seems to be changing color depending on the theme.
Just noticed the status bar mod in my uifile is not showing either.

It also seems as though the jumplist got re-adjusted again with windows 10. :/

17  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 01, 2014, 07:34:13 pm
Good to see we still have a working WSB for 10 at least, have you tried OldNewExplorer or SIB to see if they function at all?

Startisback is incompatible but ONE works Cheesy
18  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 01, 2014, 07:31:22 pm
Didn't have anything to un-rar ONE, lol, unprepared.
Not tried  Start is Back or aero glass yet, will have to make an image before I do that, not using VM.
I wouldn't be surprised if they still work on the early builds though.

dont try aero glass. It will black screen windows 10 with a incompatible DWM message. It will need to be updated to support 10.
19  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 01, 2014, 07:27:19 pm
Same setup. Though the titlebar text is still a bummer in windows 10.

20  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Change some Windows Text (add glow effect & remove background color to Windows) on: September 02, 2014, 12:28:05 am
That's the only way. Its a dwm issue, which is why Aero glass is required.

Thanks for reply Smiley

It's the only way? I try it but a watermark appear and at reboot a message who give a computer key (for donate to it's software). There's no way like add property, class or other things in theme with WSB?  Sad
21  Tips and Visual Styles / StyleHacks / (Windows 8.1) Details Pane Glyph Stylehack on: August 30, 2014, 08:31:18 am
Adds back in the glyph Vista had for preview pane.
Located @ Explorer & Shell > Explorer > PreviewPane > Details Background > Horizontal

Special thanks to Mr GRiM for fixing size issue.

22  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Glyph Image Scale on: August 30, 2014, 05:43:42 am
Thanks, that did the trick. XD  Now Its vista like on my end Cheesy
23  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Glyph Image Scale on: August 29, 2014, 09:23:36 pm
I have managed to add a glyph to the preview pane. However, It does not scale like it would in vista. How would I go about adding a scale to this glyph?

24  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 25, 2014, 12:45:19 am
change Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Selected Property > Background image Cheesy

oh my. I did not even know that was possible... XD

New possibilities just popped up into my mind on explorer bg styles... lol
25  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 24, 2014, 10:07:23 pm
Is this the only Explorer window that has this?

I can't replicate it but just for the hell of it try Windows 8 (For Testing Purposes Only) > Barrier Page > <1> and see what happens

Nope. I will send you the files through pm. Maybe you could find it?
26  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 24, 2014, 08:59:19 pm
Can you explain a little better what it is I am looking at, aside from one of the explorer backgrounds being a different color?

There is an odd gradient bg on the right picture but in some cases, it does not show up as shown on the left picture. I have no clue where its loading that gradient bg from.
27  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 23, 2014, 07:32:40 pm
Hey grim... I have another issue XD  How in the world is this happening? It only showed up the minute I used your dll.

Is that where it was lol, oh well now there is 2 ways of changing it  Tongue
28  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 17, 2014, 10:56:28 pm
Oh well XD  Would be nice if there was a way of doing it soon.. lol

Yeah I changed the sep image to new ones in the msstyle. Now its perfect Cheesy

29  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 17, 2014, 10:30:47 pm
The UIFILES are already there if you are using the custom shellstyle:

otherwise just copy/paste them in

Thank you very much. Im trying to get mire into the things I never really messed with before and this is a little on the big side at first XD

Last thing, is there any way to move the up directory button into the msstyle?
30  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 17, 2014, 10:12:16 pm
Where do I place the UI Files? Just in the main directory of the theme?

For the white separator bitmap image I have changed to Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Control Panel > ControlPanel > ContentPaneLine with the shell32.dll UIFile 24 line 216 in mine.

Code:
      <if id="atom(taskseparator)">
        <element margin="rect(8rp,0rp,0rp,0rp)" background="themeable(dtb(CONTROLPANEL,17,1),'')" width="2rp" height="15rp"/>
      </if>

I have also included my latest shellstyle.dll but be careful with this as I have added new properties to the standard UIFile 1 that if not added in the msstyles will make this fail to work and you will end up with blank explorer windows, mainly I have added a proper tree text property in  Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ProperTree > Navigation Text that you will need to add before testing.
31  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 17, 2014, 06:26:23 am
Thanks! That did the trick, however.. There seems to be an issue with the windows brand images missing in system properties now. Also, do you know where the white lines are located?

32  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 15, 2014, 06:25:25 am
How would I go about adding the ability to load colors/graphics for these white areas on a windows 8.1 Update 1 style. Editing the shellstyle of an 8 theme works fine with an 8 theme but no longer works with my 8.1.1 version of the theme.

33  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Windows 8.1 Update 1 Caption text Alignment on: May 30, 2014, 07:52:20 am

As you can see in this picture, the classic theme in windows 7 has caption text aligned to the left. The bottom image is my remake for 8.1 u1. The issue is I cannot get the text to align the left. changing: "Windows & Caption Buttons > Basic > Frames > Window > Top   Enum CONTENTALIGNMENT:CENTER to CONTENTALIGNMENT:LEFT does nothing. Has the ability to align text in the caption been revoked in 8.1 update 1?
34  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / -8.1 Theme Template- Navigation Button Backdrops on: March 15, 2014, 12:30:10 pm
It seems as though the navigation buttons in windows 8.1 dont load the backdrop images anymore. With this msstlye, you will be able to add your own back into your theme! Located in:

Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Normal > Active > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Normal > InActive > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Max > Active > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Max > InActive > Background

All you need to do is design your backdrop that fits the the template buttons and then remove the template bg so that your button backdrop is the only thing. As a result to this, you will get a really nice looking Navigation bar as shown below. (There are 3 DPI set Images in each of the background locations)

I have attached the theme template if you would like to test this out. Oh and one more thing, this template is windows 8.1 update 1 ready. (Thanks Grim and DoubleS for the windows 8.1 update 1 fix)
-If you decide to use this template or implement into your own theme, please give proper credits by linking to this thread and who made the mod. Thanks!

~xXiNightXx         Happy Theming!
35  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Windows 8.1 WSB 1.5.5.6 Critical Crash on: March 07, 2014, 07:05:14 am
It seems to happen around the time of me reloading the test. Here is what happens when it completely locks up.

It also will happen sometimes when saving a theme while in test mode.

36  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Windows 8.1 WSB 1.5.5.6 Critical Crash on: March 05, 2014, 12:28:24 pm
1.5.5.7 released with fixes for multiple possible memory errors, let me know if it still happens.

1.5.5.9 has the same issue still. The program eventually gives out and no longer functions unless I  force close it.
37  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Window Frame Bug (Windows 8.1) on: January 27, 2014, 08:26:38 am
There seems to be an issue with certain windows having sizing issues. This mainly shows up with programs such as CMD and Google Chrome. When I set the contentmargins to 8, 0, 0, 0 as shown in this first picture. The wsb window looks fine but the cmd/chrome windows have odd graphical issues on the right side.

Now I can fix the issue for CMD/Chrome by using contentmargins 9, 0, 0, 0. But this causes windows explorer and any other program that uses that frame to look squished on the top/bottom right side as shown here.

What do you think the issue is? I attached the visual style file to the bottom of this post so that you can see the issue first hand.
