1  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Same theme that works on two PCs won't work on a third one on: May 14, 2018, 06:10:18 pm
Sorry I'm late to the party.

If you're using UxStyle, I'd suggest:
1. Restart Unsigned Themes Service
2. Restart Themes Service
3. Restart Unsigned Themes Service again
That usually does it for me. Not sure what to suggest if you're using any other UxTheme solution...
2  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Inactive title bar colour on theme with white title bar text. on: April 18, 2018, 07:09:09 pm

(which I have to do manually by putting the files in C/Windows/Resources/Themes because the built-in thing in WSB always gives an error)...
Odds are, the style isn't being applied via the Personalization panel, either. Perhaps you wouldn't have noticed because the style is identical to the default in every other way or something. Make sure you have UxStyle or a UxTheme Patch or whatever you prefer installed and working. If you're using UxStyle, try going to Services.msc and restarting the "Unsigned Themes" service.
3  Help / Windows 10 / Re: What version for Win10 themes? on: October 03, 2017, 10:43:22 pm
From my experience, the Windows 8.1 mode works, although the classmaps are kinda screwy by default. Mr. GRiM released some updated Windows 10 ones somewhere...I'd link to them if I knew where they were.

As for the black Screen issue...from my experience, that's just some kind of Windows 8+ problem with the "Apply style after compiling" feature, testing should still work. I've always avoided it by just saying "no", and applying the style via a Theme, although that's on Windows 8.1, idk how you'd apply a style from a theme on 10. Presumably you know that much, though, given that you mentioned the style works "perfectly" on CU, seemingly implying you'd tried it yourself.

Apologies if any of this is old news or otherwise incorrect, I've scarcely messed with Windows 10. I mainly deal with 8.1, and thought I'd left this thread to those more experienced with 10's ins and outs than I, but evidently they're oddly silent right now, so I guess it's my turn to (hopefully) do a helpful. Hope this helps Azn
4  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Chrome browser caption controls on: July 28, 2017, 11:18:24 pm
Those aren't in the MsStyles, they're in Chrome's files somewhere. You'll have to switch to an Aero-compliant Chrome theme (such as the default Chrome theme) in order to have the Chrome titlebar match your Visual Style :/
5  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Start Menu-All Programs on: December 19, 2016, 10:18:46 pm
oh ok

I aked you because if you were using classic shell menu , I could have helped you to change font color there.
(Was thinking the exact same thing)

I don't use startisback so I can't tell ...
IIRC StartIsBack uses information from the MsStyles, so Start Menu advice in the Win7 section should apply here...right?
6  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem with 14971 on: December 11, 2016, 10:33:18 pm
(Also uh, does MSStyler still work...?)
(uh yes... why ? ._.)
Because that means we atleast still have a way to edit MSSTYLES, albeit one far less pleasant to use than WSB, so if all else fails, there's that... .___.

EDIT: (Btw, on a completely unrelated note, I apologize for inadvertently being your direct-ish competition .-. )
7  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem with 14971 on: December 11, 2016, 07:18:32 pm
WSB is in a zip o_O wtf O_o
My thoughts exactly... ._:-.

(Also uh, does MSStyler still work...?)
8  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem with 14971 on: December 08, 2016, 08:00:47 pm

And uh...fingers crossed the new build fixes it ._____.
9  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem with 14971 on: December 08, 2016, 04:03:49 am
Uhh...well I know I read something about WSB being unable to build Windows 8 Visual Styles on other versions of Windows, so...what if you replaced 14971's aero.msstyles with 14393's version? (Yeah, in case you can't tell, I'm desperate to come up with something here .-. )
10  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem with 14971 on: December 07, 2016, 01:00:51 pm
Hm. What is the "Unsigned Themes Service" ? UXstyle service ?

UXtheme in 14971 can't be patched with UXstyle. I found another patch on ._.
Oh...I, uh, misread the OP. Thought you said UxStyle, not UxTheme >.<

Okay, + load Style via Personalization CPL instead of testing proper? Idk... .-.
11  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem with 14971 on: December 06, 2016, 07:00:47 pm
Uhh...I'd assume this is an obvious one (and thus that you'd already tried it), but have you tried restarting the Unsigned Themes Service before testing? .-.
12  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Problem Buttons Windows on: October 13, 2016, 11:55:44 pm
Assuming those circles are glyphs, just modify the contentmargins properties for the buttons themselves.

(Also just an FYI: Those are called the caption buttons, in case you weren't aware of that :V )
13  Help / Windows 7 / Can the (<-) (->) Navigation Buttons be resized? on: October 13, 2016, 07:24:14 pm
Title says it all. Apologies if this has already been covered, but try as I might I couldn't find anything. I just want to make those buttons smaller so they match the height of the address bar and form a unified " one bar" appearance, as well as decrease their width .-.
14  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Windows 10 RS1 - Aero Color Intensity on: August 05, 2016, 07:46:01 pm
I apologize for this post not really being related to the subject, but...PlumyRabbit, how exactly were you able to restore the Windows Vista - 8 caption button sizes on Windows 10? Are those built into the titlebar background, this some kind of weirdness akin to this thread?
15  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Paint.NET white background color on: July 11, 2016, 05:22:21 pm
I'm no expert, but from my experience, it would appear that paint.NET uses its own colours, rather than Windows ones, meaning that either you'd need to Reverse Engineer it or compile a modified version from the source code :/
16  Tips and Visual Styles / Visual Styles / Plexcellent for Windows 8.1.1 (Beta 1) on: July 01, 2016, 05:13:58 pm
Here's a Visual Style I've been working on for a while...

Get it here:

Let me know what you think ^-^
...if anyone even sees this... ;~;
17  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / OS explodes(?) when style is applied via WSB after saving [8.1u1] on: April 09, 2016, 02:19:10 am
When using WSB beta, I've noticed a strange issue: After I save a Visual Style, there is an option to use the Visual Style immediately. Trouble is, I've noticed that if I select "Use Visual Style", my computer enters a black screen, forcing me to shut it down, enter recovery options, and do a system restore. The issue doesn't seem to be related to the Visual Style, since the styles I've saved work just fine if applied via a theme in the Personalization page in Control Panel, and the Test feature works fine (love that feature BTW). I'm on Windows 8.1 update 1, if any other information is needed, I'd be happy to try to locate and provide it.

I must say though, even with this bug, I still love Windows Style Builder. I just figured I'd report this bug, since it could be pretty dangerous to someone who wasn't prepared.
