1  Help / Windows 10 / Re: windows 11 on: May 27, 2023, 03:47:34 pm
I use the WSB attached here:

https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2535.msg14456#msg14456

It's the Beta but with improved xml files useful for changes in 10 and 11 msstyles

3  Help / Windows 10 / Re: UNreadable web fields on: May 14, 2023, 01:35:54 pm
I don't know. Browser stuff can be tricky.

Probably something in System Metrics like INFOBk or BTNFACE

5  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Inactive title bar color on: February 09, 2023, 02:43:47 pm
I don't know. I can no longer get it to work using WSB.

Sorry to hear that the registry hacks don't work with custom themes.
6  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Inactive title bar color on: February 07, 2023, 11:07:57 pm
Adjust the COLORIZATIONOPACITY:INT value at

Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > Inactive
7  Help / Windows 10 / Re: file exployer on: January 01, 2023, 10:45:30 pm

8  Help / Windows 10 / Re: change color on: December 31, 2022, 05:22:15 pm
So what part of the picture on the left do you want to change?

Anyway none of it is ListView Pop-Up
9  Help / Windows 10 / Re: exployer 2 on: December 23, 2022, 11:01:16 pm
Unfortunately that also changes the nav bar on the top.

To do the nav bar separately:

2) For the NavBar: Change the images at:

Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Basic > Normal > Active > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Basic > Normal > Inactive > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Basic > Max > Active > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Basic > Max > Inactive > Background

And delete BGTYPE:ENUM = NONE from:

Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Normal > Active > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Normal > Inactive > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Max > Active > Background
Toolbars, Headers, & Rebar > Rebar > NavBar > Aero > Max > Inactive > Background

What?

Use these maps to show you the basic structure:

https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1436.0

Width is how wide the part is and height is how high.
13  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Satrt menu on: October 30, 2022, 09:44:05 pm
Like I said back here:  https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2592.msg14774#msg14774

You use the DEFAULTPANESIZE:RECT properties to shape it all
14  Help / Windows 10 / Re: lost on: October 28, 2022, 11:14:31 pm
On right:

Start Menu > Panels > Basic > Places List > Panels > Logoff

Start Menu > Panels > Basic > Places List > Controls > Logoff Split Button Right

Start Menu > Panels > Basic > Places List > Controls > Logoff Split Button Left

On left:

Address, Breadcrumb, & Search > Search > SearchBox > Basic > Normal > Active > Background or

Windows 10 Dark Mode > Address, Breadcrumb, & Search > Search > SearchBox > Basic > Normal > Active > Background

16  Help / Windows 10 / Re: start menu on: October 17, 2022, 04:00:09 pm
I don't know. Should look the same. Maybe different DPI settings?
17  Help / Windows 10 / Re: WSB no startmenu on: October 17, 2022, 01:33:29 am
That's an old WSB. Use the one attached here:

18  Help / Windows 10 / Re: saved styles don't work on: October 11, 2022, 01:38:00 pm
The answer i gave in that post you reference was the correct one and worked for the person who requested it. I don't know why it's not working for you.

You could try Explorer & Shell > Shell > PreviewPaneControl > CommonItemDialog:Edit > Background and add the properties you want and see if that might work for you.

I don't know why you are having problems saving your msstyle or why you are having problems with UltraUXThemePatcher.

I have never used the "Import 10 fix".

Sorry I can't be of more help to you.

Try searching Classes,Parts and States in the WSB search box for "common" and try to find what you changed in the other style editor:

Maybe the two style editors are conflicting. I don't know.
19  Help / Windows 10 / Re: easyer to ask and shorter time on: October 10, 2022, 09:45:45 pm
"IMAGE" background is Lists, Menus, & Tabs > Tab > TopTabItemLeftEdge

Rest is Fonts, Colors, & System Metrics > Fonts & System Metrics > BTNFACE
20  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Cannot find aero snap preview box on: October 10, 2022, 01:18:49 pm
Try looking at the image and margins at:

Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Aero Peek Window > Normal > Right

margin parameters are (Left,Top,Right,Bottom)

There's also  Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Details > Reflections > Aero Peek Background
21  Help / Windows 10 / Re: saved styles don't work on: October 10, 2022, 04:00:28 am
If you are using the latest WSB attached here:

https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2535.msg14456#msg14456

and if you are working on a copy of your msstyle and not the one you are actually using

and your theme files are patched then

If WSB says your msstyle compiles then it should be good to go

if it's in a theme folder with a shell folder etc like the aero folder and you are applying a .theme file like aero.theme all renamed.

I have never added a class and I have no idea how to do it. Why do you want to add one and why do you think it would work?
22  Help / Windows 10 / Re: can not find on: October 09, 2022, 12:53:10 am
Lists, Menus, & Tabs > ListView > GroupHeader > OpenHot

In fact try all the hot images but that's the one
23  Help / Windows 10 / Re: can not find on: October 09, 2022, 12:02:46 am
Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ListView > ListItem > Hot, Selected, SelectedNotFocus, HotSelected

I can't tell from that picture. Post a bigger picture and more information.
25  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Exployer on: September 24, 2022, 11:27:20 pm
Windows 10 Dark Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Explorer Nav Pane > FILLCOLOR or
Windows 10 Dark Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > DarkMode Explorer Nav Pane > FILLCOLOR

I don't think you can add an image there
26  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Exployer on: September 24, 2022, 10:35:51 pm
Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > FILLCOLOR or
Windows 10 Dark Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > FILLCOLOR
27  Help / Windows 10 / Re: background texture on: September 08, 2022, 01:44:25 pm
Never use really big images.

Use really small ones if you are using the TILE sizingtype.

Never use TRUESIZE because then you're stuck with that one size. Use STRETCH so the image can be stretched to fit different sized windows.

By the way that Control Panel window can't be done right even with a TILE sizingtype because it's using some kind of weird composite tiling that's big in some places and small in others.
28  Help / Windows 10 / Re: background texture on: September 07, 2022, 10:55:54 pm
1) Delete the fillcolor
2) Add properties:

ENUM/BGTYPE/IMAGEFILE
ENUM/SIZINGTYPE/STRETCH,TILE or TRUESIZE
FILENAME/IMAGEFILE/select your image (must be png)

I did this at Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Control Panel > ControlPanel > ContentPane where I had to use a TILE sizingtype:

Sometimes it works but usually it doesn't and then there's nothing you can do.
29  Help / Windows 10 / Re: start menu on: August 11, 2022, 12:36:58 am
The more stuff you got on it (particularly places List) the taller it's gonna get to show it all
30  Help / Windows 10 / Re: start menu on: August 10, 2022, 10:29:48 pm
Change DEFAULTPANESIZE:RECT sizes: (x,y,width,height).

Right side: Places List

Left side: More Programs, Program List, NSC host, Open Box, Search View.  Stay consistent with changed values.
31  Help / Windows 10 / Re: saving work on: August 03, 2022, 12:58:41 pm
What are talking about? You can't set it as a windows theme if you can't save your changes to it.
32  Help / Windows 10 / Re: saving work on: August 03, 2022, 04:00:38 am
Well if the ProgramsList is the only thing you changed then the mistake has to be in there somewhere.

Go back and check everything.

Turn each change back to default and see if the msstyle will save until you find the change you made that's bad.
33  Help / Windows 10 / Re: saving work on: August 03, 2022, 02:59:00 am
So it tests but won't save?
34  Help / Windows 10 / Re: saving work on: August 03, 2022, 01:40:03 am
You made a mistake and now the file won't compile.

I can't tell what you did wrong unless I know everything you've been doing since the last time you tested/saved successfully. In detail.
35  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Background on: July 02, 2022, 01:24:19 am
Go to Google Images and search honeycomb backgrounds or surfaces. Or make your own in an image editor.
36  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Background on: July 01, 2022, 11:55:45 pm
If it has image properties then yes. If it has like a fillcolor property or something that's not an image then no.

You just import an image with the import button to replace the old one and then adjust your image oriented properties if you need to.
37  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Help on: June 02, 2022, 02:31:12 am
If you cant do something as simple as copy/paste the Aero folder in Resources/Themes to your desktop and rename the parts like I told you then you're in the wrong place.

Do yourself a favor and download a theme and edit that in WSB and don't worry about anything else.
38  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Help on: June 02, 2022, 02:15:09 am
I already answered that here https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2586.msg14749#msg14749
39  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Help on: June 02, 2022, 01:41:29 am
Are you going to be using StartIsBack and OldNewExplorer? Then the easiest way is to download something already themed for them and edit that in WSB. Way easier than adding that stuff yourself especially if you are just starting out and don't know anything about stylehacks and special shellstyles.

Otherwise just make a copy of the Aero folder, change the names and start from scratch
40  Help / Windows 10 / Re: WSB on: May 31, 2022, 03:49:36 am
1) You can put WSB anywhere you want.
2) You don't need to install it. Just click on the exe.
3) Use the one attached here: https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2535.0 I'm using it in 11

4) Never work on the default Aero theme. Make a copy of the Aero folder and change all the aero names to your theme names (folder, your name.msstyles and your name.msstyles.mui in en-US)
5) To actually apply a theme, you need to make a copy of aero.theme file. Open it in notebook and change the Display and msstyle names to your theme name and put this and your theme folder in Windows/Resources/Themes

6) Make sure your theme files are patched or WSB won't test and themes won't apply

7) Here's a video I made back in 2010 showing some really basic stuff. It's still kinda relevant:

https://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1268.0

Hope this helps you get started Smiley
