Smiley Can I put one picture in System Properties and another in Control Panel.   I mean one picture as the background of system properties and completely different one in control panel.   Also what file has the system properties screen?

No. It's the same background in both: Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Control Panel > Control Panel > Content Pane.

And it's a FillColor not an image.

I'm assuming you mean the one that is a Control Panel screen?

Yeah you can put an image in systemcpl.dll:

1) I put an image (png 910x683px) in WSB where there was nothing. In this case Lists, Menus, & Tabs > EmptyMarkup > MarkupText > NormalText.

2) To do this you have to add properties & values: BGTYPE:ENUM = IMAGEFILE, SIZINGTYPE:ENUM = TRUESIZE, STRETCH or TILE (in this case TRUESIZE), IMAGEFILE:FILENAME = your image. You can also add SIZINGMARGINS:MARGINS etc too

3) Go into systemcpl.dll > UIFILE > 1001 and replace all the ControlPanel,2,0 with (in this case) EmptyMarkup,1,1. I did this fast and from the looks of it you might not want to change all of them. Play around to see which ones. If you have a 64 bit computer use ResSpy to see what's up.

That's it. I tried to put an image in the main control panel pane but that's harder and I haven't been able to get anything that looks good. But that will take an image also using the same procedure as above Smiley

Works for me, used sizingtype :tile  and added a 2x2px  pattern.I think this is the only CPL window that will take a full size image, all the others seem to tile the image, good find Cool

You can do most of  the  CPL windows at once (no system file edit needed)   by replacing the fillcolor in the .msstyles  here-

 (--   Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Control Panel > ControlPanel > ContentPane

  and use sizingtype:enum   =Tile  -- and  the properties that 3am mentioned .)

..... with a small patterned image ,carbon fibre etc...has to be a small pattern because some of the windows tile them selves.

No the puppies aren't mine. Just a random Google Image.

1) You can try. I played with it for awhile but couldn't get it to look right. Shell32.dll UIFILE 24.

2) Yeah. This is bitmaps 634 and 635 in shell32.dll.
