It's not task dialog.
Background color is Fonts & System Metrics >Btnface:Color
Font color is Fonts & System Metrics > Windowtext:Color

But I can't find how to change the actual font.

In desperation I went into the registry to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/Current Version/Font Substitutes and replaced the Microsoft Sans Serif and Tahoma in msshelldig 1 and 2 with my fonts. But nothing happened! This was supposed to change the System Fonts. Yeah right.

I have read that some fonts have been hardcoded but I don't know which ones.

Too bad there isn't some documentation online somewhere about this stuff so we don't waste all of our time trying to change things we can't change.

The situation is really bad.

Then why are Microsoft Sans Serif and Tacoma in the msshelldig?

Or are all these threads about changing system fonts there just bull?

For example look at option 2 here:  http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1175-fonts-change.html

That doesn't mean it works for everything.

In my case it didn't  do anything at all.

I'm thinking about trying this next..what do you think (quote from something I read):

Now you need to make the system believe that it has no Segoe UI fonts and that it must replace it with for example Таhoma. Please note that there is no need to delete any fonts!!!
Run regedit.exe and make the following changes in the registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts]
"Segoe UI (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes]
"Segoe UI"="Tahoma"

Do you think this is likely?   Do you know of any documentation online to resolve this crappy font situation?

Best idea is to check all DUI possibilities.

Here's a list of all the files that contains foreground="windowtext"

C:\Windows\System32\shellstyle.dll would be a good starting point. Those others are for other things.

Here is the Delete Dialog Box without Segoe UI:

Using this tool:  http://www.fsxtreme.com/files/NoSegoe.zip

It tricks the registry into believing there are no Segoe UI fonts. And if there were then it is the FONT OF YOUR CHOICE Cheesy

Works great on Win 7.  ENJOY!

Nice find !

But i think you can't force people to make so much changes with installing a Visual Style. 3 or 4 system files to replace is enough.
This can be for personnal use or proposed as an option with the theme, don't you think ?
