How did you do this? Does it basically make editing the shellstyle useless?
2  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Aesthetic problem with Header.item on: June 25, 2009, 09:45:51 am
Why not make that image 6px wide?  Just leave two columns of pixels blank on the right side.

5  Help / Windows Vista / What's happening?!?!? on: June 20, 2009, 12:17:00 am
My calendar floats up into the air!  Whenever my mouse hovers over the date ("Friday, June 19, 2009"), it moves upwards!  Why is this happening?!?

I know it's a problem with the VS because others VS's don't do this when I apply them.  Please help!!! Cry Cry Cry
6  Other / Other / Re: A Question on: June 19, 2009, 10:39:38 pm
I'm guessing it comes from his name Andreas Verhoeven, kind of like his initials I guess.  That's just a guess, though.
7  Help / Windows Vista / Hiding the shutdown/lock buttons on: June 18, 2009, 06:34:14 am
Anyone know how to hide the two shutdown/lock buttons on the start menu? jg-visuals did it on his base style. http://jg-visuals.deviantart.com/art/Base-124067665

On his visual style those three buttons have been replaced with just one button.  Any ideas?  He hasn't responded to any of my messages.
8  Help / Windows Vista / Re: A few questions on: June 17, 2009, 09:30:40 pm
Anyone know where the white dot is?

Also does anyone know where the arrow next to "recent items" and "administrative tools" on the start menu is?
9  Help / Windows Vista / Re: A few questions on: June 17, 2009, 08:20:46 am
the blue shadow and the white vertical line are both in the Shell/Previewpane/1/1 (one file with margins),

for the folders arrow i suggest you are using photoshop (which destroys the Alphachannel in the BMP). i recommend GIMP (32bit BMP ability with alpha channel) to recolor or to set the opacy down to 1-2%, so it is transparent in the final VS
Thanks!

But for the arrow, I don't use photoshop I use Paint.net (it says it auto-detects the bit depth when I save the bmp).  It's not transparent I just color the whole thing (245, 244, 244).
10  Help / Windows Vista / A few questions on: June 17, 2009, 06:53:22 am

Where is that white dot?

Red: Where is this blue line?
Blue: I know it's hard to see, but there is a 1px white line.  Where is it?

And finally, this arrow has been troubling me.  Whenever I change it to be the same color as the background (245, 244, 244), the shellstyle bugs out and the whole left side of the explorer window is cut off ("favorite links" and the "folders" thing goes away).  What am I doing wrong?
11  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Address bar and Search on: June 15, 2009, 04:57:50 am

Yes, 2 and 3 are in browseui.dll

13  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Tool Window on: June 10, 2009, 11:45:11 pm
hm I've seen the small windows in Paint.net if you have that.

Also the help button is on the controls preview, right next to the close button.
14  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Where are these? on: June 07, 2009, 06:15:31 pm
Found them.  They were all somewhere in fonts and system metrics.

New Questions:

lime green: Where is that part of the adress box?
aqua: Where is this menu?

lime green: Background color?
aqua: Where is the background color behind the text located?

15  Help / Windows Vista / Where are these? on: June 07, 2009, 06:57:19 am

red: Where is that darker part on the menu?  It goes away when I mouse-over it.
bright-green: Where is this white part?
aqua: Where is that dark line coming from?

Thanks in advance! =D

Well I know I was the one to think of the wiki and I know that it hasn't been used at all.

But I think a good thing to have would be entries for each part (don't know how else to word it) of a visual style.  For example, what the heck is QueryBuilder? TryHarder? Communications Menu?  I am thinking that for each entry, there could be an image of where it is and a little description.

This would be very helpful for newcomers who don't know what all the names mean.  I know there are several people on this site who could help out with this.
17  Other / Other / Re: DirectUI XML - Notes that you can use. on: June 05, 2009, 03:14:02 am
This all looks very useful, however could someone reword how to use it for a noob?  Like what do I edit in the shellstyle and what do I edit in .msstyle?

Also, what's the best program to use for editing this sort of stuff?

19  Help / Windows Vista / Re: 22px taskbar trouble on: February 24, 2009, 07:35:45 am
Sorry for budging in, but where can I change HEIGHT:SIZE to 0 (in order to get a 22px taskbar)? I searched for it and still cannot find it.
Taskbar & Tray Notify > Taskbar > Basic > Taskbar    =\

I have no idea where aero's is =(
20  Help / Windows Vista / Re: 22px taskbar trouble on: February 12, 2009, 02:24:59 am
For some reason every start button I design is never placed in the right spot.  On the startbutton image I design the button to be in the middle of the taskbar, but for some reason it moves to the top.  So I move the image down but somehow it stays in the same place - back to the top of the taskbar.  No matter how I design it it stays in the same place.  What's wrong?
21  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Pictures on: February 11, 2009, 08:20:04 pm
Just set the sizing margins in a way that doesn't stretch the picture.
22  Help / Windows Vista / 22px taskbar trouble on: February 06, 2009, 06:35:47 pm
I'm having trouble getting my taskbar to be 22px high...  I've change HEIGHT:SIZE to 0, and my taskbar image is 22px high, but it still reverts to being 24px high.  Can anyone help me with this?

The latest VSB version is located at the same download link given in the very first e-mail you receive after buying VSB.

EDIT: For clarity.
26  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Version 1.2 on: January 18, 2009, 07:22:47 am
Every download link is the same.  Did you even check the version number?

31  Help / Windows Vista / Re: What's the baest way to test indertimanate progress bar? on: December 21, 2008, 03:15:27 am
Usually connecting to a wireless network takes some time, and it uses indeterminate, I think.
32  Help / Windows Vista / Some questions... on: December 20, 2008, 11:26:44 pm

1) Blue: where is that divider?
2) Red: Where is that selection image/color?

Thanks

EDIT: Also, how do you get rid of the start menu subtext (Internet and Email)?
33  Help / Windows Vista / Re: How modify the shellstyle.dll that goes with the Vs. on: December 20, 2008, 12:31:27 am
um, you modify the shellstyle.dll that's in your theme folder.

Say your visual style is called "style1".  Then it would be in
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\style1\Shell\NormalColor\shellstyle.dll
34  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Ahh! -- Rebar Ext bgcolor and Fav Links stuff. on: December 19, 2008, 06:06:34 pm
2) For this you have to edit the UIFile in the shellstyle.dll
Find <if id="atom(ProperTreeLinksHeader)">, and edit the background and foreground colors (they are in argb format).  Foreground is the text color and background is the background color.
3) Folder button: Explorer and Shell>Shell>ProperTree><1>
35  Help / Windows Vista / Re: shellstyle mod on: December 16, 2008, 10:54:28 pm
did Saarineames remove the separator too?
36  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Where is this image? on: December 14, 2008, 09:04:01 am
Where is that horizontal separator?  I thought it was in explorer and shell>shell>previewpane><4> but I guess not.
37  Other / Other / Spammers/Botters on: December 11, 2008, 01:24:10 am
There has been two bots/spammers already.  If anyone is linking to these forums, I think they need to stop.  This place should only be for people with VSB.  Just my opinion.
38  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Where is this image? on: December 08, 2008, 09:19:29 am
Thanks.

BTW, how do you guys figure out where all that minor stuff is?
39  Help / Windows Vista / Where is this image? on: December 08, 2008, 02:25:57 am
Where are those white lines that are above and below the vertical separator? (each 1px tall,  I know its hard to see)
40  Help / Windows Vista / Re: How to change the backgroundcolors of... on: December 06, 2008, 07:59:01 am
When I change the color of the vertical separator the explorer background changes back to the white color instead of the color I had it previously.  Does anyone know why this is happening?

EDIT: NVM, I just remembered that VSB doesn't apply the shellstyle.  It's all good.
