81  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Location of File Explorer Status Bar Background and the blue "File" tab? on: May 13, 2014, 09:47:02 pm
The blue file tab isn't a part of the msstyles, it's a part of the Ribbon Framework.

Also please don't upload pictures in PDF files.

Could you elaborate?
84  Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: Colorization Color converter. on: May 08, 2014, 09:42:57 pm
The number is correct. For example you get the same result here: http://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-decimal.htm
85  Main / Future Concepts and Ideas / Re: StyleScripts on: April 29, 2014, 12:17:45 am

This should be useful for script makers, give the user a custom dialog for input to allow certain conditions to be met. For example the user could select between rounded or squared images, or between red and blue text colors, etc.
86  Main / Future Concepts and Ideas / Re: StyleScripts on: April 26, 2014, 10:24:06 pm
Sorry this is coming a bit late, been busy with work and other things:

As you can see it's hooked up reading the XML, I just need to add the function to add/remove/copy properly which will be based on the Add Property dialog which won't take too much effort. The 8.0 to 8.1 and 8.1 to 8.1.1 conversion will use StyleScripts and once it's finished a new build will be out.
87  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Windows Style Builder: How to Add Items on: April 21, 2014, 04:15:15 am
Whoever made that theme is using a custom shellstyle.dll, if you want to add your own you'll have to modify the XML files in WSB\Data\Win7.

Also could you not upload pictures in PDF files please. Use an image hosting website like http://www.imgur.com/
88  Main / Future Concepts and Ideas / Re: StyleScripts on: April 17, 2014, 09:34:14 pm
I think it's a good idea but maybe as a future update, i would rather see the current feature set complete, the sooner you can release a RTM build of 1.6 the sooner you guys can start developing 1.7 and make money again as current support only extends to 1.6

Well it would make 8.0 to 8.1 and 8.1 to 8.1.1 porting much easier.
89  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: What's wrong with my theme? on: April 14, 2014, 12:47:11 am
Generally when that happens (the black screen) DWM is crashing and WinLogon gets hung in an infinite loop trying to restart it. If you want to try to avoid it at all costs you can try suspending winlogon with pssuspend , if DWM crashes you can go back to another theme and restart DWM manually. Note that Explorer needs DWM in order to run as well so it may get difficult.
90  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: What's wrong with my theme? on: April 14, 2014, 12:20:10 am
It's working fine for me, is there anything else in your licorice folder other than the msstyles and the shell?
91  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Inactive Window Caption Text Background Color on: April 12, 2014, 09:27:13 pm
You can change the color, but it'll always be solid. Change the COLORIZATION:COLOR at: Fonts, Colors, & System Metrics > Colors (Globals)

Use this to convert a color into a proper number: http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1187.0
92  Main / Future Concepts and Ideas / StyleScripts on: March 29, 2014, 11:22:11 pm
Even though these days I don't have much time available to work on WSB, I like to spend times on the weekends to add some things or update it here and there. One thing right now I have as a concept is called StyleScripts. Which essentially is the same thing as a StyleHack but easier to manage.

This is just a rough idea of how it would look:

I was wondering if you themers would want this feature or not. In my opinion it would be useful and more flexible than StyleHacks.
93  Other / Other / Re: how do you remove a property? on: March 09, 2014, 01:43:13 am
Oh, well I went back and tested it earlier and apparently the Delete key doesn't remove properties in that version. Also it apparently doesn't in 1559 either, though it had done so in previous beta versions.
94  Other / Other / Re: how do you remove a property? on: March 08, 2014, 06:43:14 pm
Whenever you select a property that button should enable itself. Is the icon on the button grey or red?
95  Other / Other / Re: how do you remove a property? on: March 08, 2014, 04:58:50 pm
What version of WSB are you using? The stable 1.5 or the beta 1.5.5.9?
96  Other / Other / Re: how do you remove a property? on: March 08, 2014, 03:56:49 pm
You can also ctrl+click to select multiple properties that aren't next to each other. The delete key should also remove them when they're selected.
97  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Windows 8.1 WSB 1.5.5.6 Critical Crash on: March 05, 2014, 11:28:45 pm
Well can you keep track of what all you're doing before it crashes? That's really the only way I can find what's causing it and fix it.
98  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: MSPaint Canvas Border on: March 04, 2014, 12:56:35 am
It might be appworkspace in sysmetrics. I'm pretty sure it's one of the sysmetric colors, but I can't test it.
99  Other / Other / Re: Latest version WSB not working with themes from previous version on: February 26, 2014, 11:35:14 pm
I spoke too soon. I'm really tearing my hair out here. Each version has its own problems, but they both sort of stop working after a while and need to be restarted, and sometimes I completely need to reboot.

The same theme displays somewhat differently in each different version. In the newer version, although I have edited certain items, they just do not display as edited. I think the newer version is a bit more stable and I'd like to continue using it, but it simply won't let me edit certain things. Or, what I mean is, I edit them, but they do not change when I test the theme. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Also, the new one does not remember where to save to or open from from one reboot to the next.

Thanks,
Ellen

Edit: Fortunately, I am seeing that when I try the theme in Windows\Resources\Themes as a theme, all the edits do show, but it is utterly maddening to work this way.

The theme compiles the same in 1.5.0.3 and 1.5.5.9 as the backend hasn't changed at all. So there's no reason why one should have different results from the other. What are you trying to edit exactly?
100  Other / Other / Re: want to use MS Shell Dlg2 as font but not in menu on: February 23, 2014, 12:21:23 am
I don't think the FONT property accepts logical fonts like MS Shell Dlg or MS Shell Dlg 2, I could be wrong though. You can try just replacing Segoe UI in the string table with MS Shell Dlg by doing what 3am said in the post above me.
101  Other / Other / Re: why 404 not found? on: February 22, 2014, 02:14:45 am
I would recommend keeping the old one for whatever reason just in case you need it.
102  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Title bar text background color on: February 15, 2014, 09:18:48 pm
That's also answered in that thread. You have to use that Aero Glass mod.
103  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: From 7 to 8 on: February 13, 2014, 11:28:39 pm
In the latest beta have the ribbon open and click File > Open > Import 7 Theme

Save then open it again (bug)

Most cases this should work but isn't 100%, so if it doesn't post here and I'll look into it.
104  Tips and Visual Styles / StyleHacks / Re: minimize / restore / close buttons on: February 05, 2014, 10:47:08 pm
I do not have "controls" there, after DWM Window
Have a look, please

Those buttons are right there, CloseButton, Restore/Maximize Button, Minimize/Help Button. Though some people may use the glyphs instead so you can also try the Button* > *Glyph > 96dpi

I don't know what to tell you. But like I said it doesn't always work, not that it never works. You should probably mess around in VirtualBox for editing those files and see what works and what doesn't so your computer won't have any issues.
106  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Remove squares off of desktop icons? on: February 03, 2014, 12:10:54 am
Windows 8 (For Testing Purposes Only) > Desktop ListView > ListItem

I think he's talking about the dots which are those old Win1-9x focus rectangles.

This may work for 8 but I personally haven't tested it in 8: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/remove-that-unsightly-focus-rectangle-in-windows-xp-or-vista/
107  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Window Frame Bug (Windows 8.1) on: February 02, 2014, 10:01:45 pm
I changed it to 9, 0, 0, 0 and PaddedBorderWidth in SysMetrics to 5 and it looks better. I'm not sure what else to do though.

Editing files in shell32 don't always work and cause Windows to misbehave in Windows 8 or 8.1 for some reason. I don't know what else to tell you because I've personally just stayed away from it since 8.
109  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Importing Theme Win 8.1 on: January 16, 2014, 11:06:31 pm

Should work fine now.
110  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Importing Theme Win 8.1 on: January 12, 2014, 11:23:44 pm
You have to expand the tree view for something to show up in the preview.

Theme resource changer/ResSpy doesn't work in 8 due to a change in Windows.
112  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Window title background - 8.1 preview on: January 09, 2014, 12:32:55 pm
Did you change your COLORIZATIONCOLOR:INT in Fonts & System Metrics > Colors(Globals) to -13421773 as well as adding

AutoColorization=0
ColorizationColor=0XFF333333

to your .theme file as Jamie said?

That's just redundant.
113  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Window title background - 8.1 preview on: January 05, 2014, 01:29:30 am
The sysmetrics properties aren't applied via the control panel anymore in 8.

115  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Windows 8.1 Frame Window Bottom and Top Border Colors? on: December 22, 2013, 10:19:44 pm
1) Uncheck "Show Shadows Under Windows" at Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System \Advanced System Settings

2) Use Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Shadowless Window > Normal > Bottom & Top images

That will get rid of those shadows

I changed your Shadowless frame images in the attached msstyles

Disabling shadows isn't the solution. The shadow image never shows on the frame, only outside of it. For example, here's a shot with shadows enabled:

Also own, the ATLASRECT property is that particular image's coordinates on the stream (also called the atlas) image, as all images in the DWMWindow class are technically just one large image. Changing it will only change the where on the atlas its looking for the image.
116  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Opacity for Thumbnails & Controls background ? on: December 22, 2013, 10:09:17 pm
That's usually caused by Windows loading C:\Windows\System32\shellstyle.dll rather than your theme's shellstyle. Which means there might be a missing property its looking for or your shellstyle has an issue.
117  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Opacity for Thumbnails & Controls background ? on: December 14, 2013, 04:11:57 pm
No because DWM is drawing an opaque color, not the msstyles. You can use Glass8 and it'll add transparency there along with the windows.
118  Tips and Visual Styles / Visual Styles / Re: Zune 8.1 (Windows 8.1) on: December 13, 2013, 11:47:58 pm
I hid my real name from the start menu and I blanked out the tabs for the preview in photoshop.

Oh, I've had my user folder disabled for so long on StartIsBack I forgot it even existed.
119  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Taskbar Settings on: December 13, 2013, 11:46:49 pm
What's the height of your taskbar? Also what is the sizing type for the taskband?
120  Tips and Visual Styles / Visual Styles / Re: Zune 8.1 (Windows 8.1) on: December 13, 2013, 11:28:35 pm
Why is there such a large padding between the user picture and the places list? Also where's the text in the tabs and menu in the preview?
