42  Help / Windows 10 / Re: 8.0/8.1.1 Taskbar JumpList Fix Stylescript (Works with SiB) on: October 12, 2014, 10:08:20 pm
Hey mate, thanks for the hard work!  Am I the only one who is experiencing BSOD after applying and saving?  I can test it and it works great but when I save the file and go to use the theme from the personalization options it Black Screens on me?  Any suggestions.

Here's the Windows 8.1 theme I'm working with without the jumplist fix so it should work fine until you apply and save the stylescript.
UNITY 2014 beta https://www.dropbox.com/s/2okrsdhfvq2si1j/UNITY%202014%208.1%20to%2010%20Themes%20Beta.zip?dl=0

Thanks for any help/suggestions.  As always please make a system restore point/create snapshot before using.

What's the BSOD message?
43  Help / Windows 10 / Re: Ten on: October 11, 2014, 01:46:37 am
Hi PandaX
We need to find a way to change the inactive text color and the inactive caption buttons of the modern apps.

Regards
Nighthawk-f22

I haven't had a chance to look at the MSStyles for 10 yet but the text color for Metro windows isn't something that's in the msstyles I imagine, considering it changes depending on the colorization color of DWM.

Well for now.

Well at least I don't have to update WSB for Win10 support. Nice work guys!
46  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Stable version, avoid black screen, etc... on: September 22, 2014, 11:01:27 pm
You can clear out the testing folder, it's supposed to automatically, but can't if it crashes.
47  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Stable version, avoid black screen, etc... on: September 21, 2014, 02:44:10 am
This build doesn't prevent a blackscreen, but it'll try to recover from it: http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2130.0

It suspends WinLogon, checks if DWM is running, if not applies Aero and resumes WinLogon (which itself will restart DWM).
48  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Stable version, avoid black screen, etc... on: September 20, 2014, 09:16:05 pm
UxThemePatcher also doesn't cause the black screens, it's winlogon getting stuck in an infinite loop.
49  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Stable version, avoid black screen, etc... on: September 17, 2014, 09:55:14 pm
It's not WSB that causes it, it's a bug in winlogon. Whether or not you apply via WSB or with a .theme file is irrelevant as they both apply themes the same way, so it can still happen. Sometimes it can happen just based on where you saved the file, which is why I always either use the desktop or %programdata%
50  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 14, 2014, 11:16:02 pm
Don't delete the mui files, they're supposed to be there.
51  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 14, 2014, 06:09:00 pm
Ok, then it might be an issue with that theme. The Common File Dialog (Save and Open) will fail if there's an issue with the Shellstyle.dll, if you copy the Shell folder in Aero's folder (C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\aero\Shell\) into the directory where Obscuro.msstyles in (overwriting the Shell folder that's already there) does it work then?
52  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 14, 2014, 05:55:18 pm
I'll give it a go now. Remember though, this doesn't seem to just be a problem with Windows Style Builder. If I open Notepad, change my theme to a custom one using the Personalise menu, then try to open or save in Notepad, it breaks there too, without even touching WSB. It doesn't seem to be caused by Windows Style Builder, it's caused by changing the active .MSSTYLES, which is leading me to believe it's a problem with UXStyle or something in that region.

As for the latest build, the exact thing happens. Failed Window Show, 2 Common Dialog, 0 Windows.

Ok well you stated in a previous post it didn't affect Notepad: "Yes, the open and save buttons work as normal in Notepad before and after clicking test theme. When the import, export and save buttons have broken in WSB, they remain working in Notepad."

Does this only happen with the theme "Obscuro" or default Aero as well?
53  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 14, 2014, 05:36:09 pm
Ok, new build. This one after it fails it should open a new SaveFileDialog. The second one uses copy/paste default template code so it should work (though won't actually save anything yet). If it works I'll track it down from there.
54  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 14, 2014, 05:11:55 pm
Any difference in this build?

55  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: black screen on: September 14, 2014, 04:23:57 pm
Sorry I meant to reply to this the other day, but that black screen is a bug in Windows. I've been trying to look into circumventing it because it can be a real pain. I'll post an update with progress when I make some.
56  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 14, 2014, 04:21:16 pm
Has anyone got any ideas? I've done multiple sfc /scannow commands and according to that, all the system files are fine. I've done multiple re-installs of UXStyle and WSB and the problem still persists. I'm getting to the point where I would like a refund as this product simply does not work.

EDIT: I just re-tried opening Notepad, then WSB and testing the theme and the open and save buttons break in Notepad too! I then tried opening Notepad and changing the current theme to a custom one through the Windows personalize menu and it breaks Notepad's open and save buttons too. So it looks like for some reason, changing the .MSSTYLES while programs are open breaks their open and save buttons every single time. I wonder why that's happening...

Can you run this build attached and tell me what it says when you try to save? It should pop up with some message boxes when it fails to save.
57  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 03, 2014, 12:22:57 am
What happens if you test another msstyles?
58  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: September 02, 2014, 09:34:25 pm
I have tried using the current beta (1.5.6.2) and the problem is still present in the exact same form. No error message when trying the import, export or save buttons, they just do nothing. I am using another cusomization feature which is Windows 7 Navigation Buttons Customizer by Door2Windows. I have tried restoring my navigation buttons to default using this program, but the problem is still present.

If you open up Notepad then WSB and then test, can you open the open/save file dialog in Notepad?
59  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Why I can't change the color? on: September 01, 2014, 06:01:08 am
You have to go to the location of the property to modify it. That text color (and Font) is located at: Explorer & Shell > Shell > Link > Hyperlink
60  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: August 31, 2014, 09:13:32 pm
I've done a clean Windows install on my second computer (a MacBook Air) and installed UXStyle and it works seemingly fine. I then went back to my main computer and tried restoring/undoing the patches from universalthemepatcher, rebooting then installing UXStyle and it still hasn't fixed the problem. The bug can still be reproduced 100% of the time on computer 1 again. I already have Visual C++ Redist 2008 installed. Is there a list of the files Windows Style Builder creates? Could it be possible that there's a corrupt file or reg entry hanging around somewhere? I've got a feeling that when I uninstall WSB it's not clearing up absolutely every file that's associated with it.

The only files are %appdata%\VistaStyleBuilder and the installation folder.  Nothing in appdata modifies anything with the save dialog.

Did you try the beta? Anytime the save dialog fails to open it throws an error beginning with CDERR_ and creates a backup of the theme.

Also are you using any other modifications? Custom shell32 for example?
61  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: August 28, 2014, 12:12:03 am
I'm using UniversalThemePatcher x64. Viewing the properties it says that it's version 1.5.0.22, by deepxw. Quick quesion, does WSB's licence allow me to install on another one of my computers? I could try it on a clean Windows installation then to verify that it's not something that I have installed causing issues.

Yeah you can install it on another computer if you want.

Some things you can try if it persists:
Install the Visual C++ Redist 2008 (x86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29
Try using UxStyle as your uxtheme patcher: http://uxstyle.com/
62  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: August 27, 2014, 10:42:18 pm
My specs are nearly identical to yours so that's not the issue and I haven't had it since I started the betas. What uxtheme patch are you using?
63  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Import, Export and Save buttons stop working after testing theme on: August 27, 2014, 09:58:05 pm
I have encountered a pretty fundamental error in my first few minutes of using Windows Style Builder. I am using the latest version (1.5). This bug can be reproduced with a 100% success rate. I open WSB, create a new theme based on Aero, edit an image and then test. After stopping the test, the import, export and save buttons do nothing when clicked until the program is closed and restarted. I downloaded the latest public beta and tried the same thing, and surprisingly this bug is still present.

Is this happening to anyone else? It's rather annoying having to exit and re-start the program every single time you test the theme.

The thing is, it can't be reproduced 100% of the time. For example: http://screencast.com/t/iduSMm0r
In the beta it should give you an error dialog, if it does post what it says here.
64  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Control Panel (Windows 8.1 Update 1) on: August 25, 2014, 10:07:26 pm
That must of been one of my older shellstyle's then, i have now moved all those properties to a new area and restored Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Selected Property back to default.

Actually I have a question for 3am, what property is it to adjust the shadow under the image dimensions, I notice mine is very heavy compared to yours.

Shadow is drawn by GDI, its thickness depends on the font itself.
65  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: error al cambiar el color del titulo del panel de control on: August 04, 2014, 02:42:49 am
No puede editar las propiedades heredadas directamente. Vas a tener que ir Styles > ControlPanelStyle > Title y cambiar allí. (Google Translate)
66  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Problem with Start Menu item (I don't know what it is called) on: August 03, 2014, 02:03:37 am
Omg Sad there must be something wrong with my theme then Sad

I know maybe I'm asking too much but could you upload that theme so that I could copy the properties?

I did what you told me but it doesn't change in my start menu

Or upload that test image you used, I changed exactly what you showed in you picture and it doesn't change anything

Also I guess the little white arrows can't be changed since like me you changed all the other arrows but those.

I've had issues where I changed an image and the result doesn't show up, I'm not sure why but you could try opening/closing Explorer or logging in and logging off again. SIB might not be updating the resources properly.
67  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Problem behind Taskbar background on: August 01, 2014, 10:02:09 pm
It doesn't have anything to do with which version of WSB you're using because the editing engine has never been updated except support for AeroLite properties.

Check the margins in both the Aero and Basic parts of the TaskbandExtendedUI. Aero inherits and overrides any Basic properties which could cause issues.

69  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Jumplist bug again! on: July 29, 2014, 01:05:17 am
Awesome mate that's great news.  How is it that the jumplist worked for you then if you are using SIB as well?

I disabled it to test your theme.
70  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Jumplist bug again! on: July 29, 2014, 12:58:49 am
Thanks I guess it is time do dump Startisback until they update it.  Do you use any alternatives?  I might go back to Start8 since I have a legit copy of that as well.

It's like that intentionally so you can theme the start menu in SIB. The only one I use is SIB. In the next update to WSB I'll be adding proper support for manipulating the JumpList for SIB users and 8.1 stock users.
71  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Jumplist bug again! on: July 29, 2014, 12:42:07 am
It's weird I just uninstalled startisback and the jumplist works normally.  When I re-install it the bug is there again.  I'm using a legit version of the the program. Version 1.6.2

StartIsBack modifies how the themes work to be compatible with 8.0 themes which has the original StartPanelPriv class layout like it was in 7. I would suggest switching OS Modes in WSB but having just tested it, that switch doesn't seem to work anymore.
72  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Jumplist bug again! on: July 28, 2014, 11:12:42 pm
Can you take a screenshot of what it looks like for you? It's working for me as well.
73  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Documentation and a DumpTheme problem on: July 24, 2014, 02:18:14 am
StyleHacks are stored in %appdata%\VistaStyleBuilder\StyleHacks

When you 'Export All Properties' a dialog should pop up asking for a name for your stylehack along with a description. The preview image is optional. It then saves to the above directory with the name you specified in the name box. You can now open the StyleHacks dialog and select that stylehack to import the properties you exported.
74  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Documentation and a DumpTheme problem on: July 21, 2014, 09:50:13 pm
If there's a node in the tree where there's no properties, it's a valid part/state as defined in  vssym32.h, so no they can't be hidden.
75  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Documentation and a DumpTheme problem on: July 21, 2014, 02:06:44 am
CustomThemesEnabler is just a temporary UxTheme patch when you use the test feature. It only works in Vista.

The documentation has been discontinued and replaced with the Maps section: http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?board=18.0
76  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: JumpList porting 7 msstyles to 8.1 fix on: July 15, 2014, 09:35:31 pm
From few days i try to port a theme from Windows 7 to use it in Windows 8.1.1. I try to fix the jump lists using this tutorial but with no luck. There is a few properties in StartPanelComposited::StartPanelPriv: Enum, Bool, Margins, Images, and INHERITED PROPERTIES. I remove Enum, Margins and Images, but nothing under INHERITED PROPERTIES cannot be removed. When I press remove button with marked single property or multiple, nothing happens... one flickr and the property/s is/are still there. Am I missing something? After that if try to change some of the values of this properties WSB lose its window frame and freeze!

Sorry for my bad english.

Adding/removing inherited properties doesn't currently work.

To fix the jump list run this: http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=2094.0
77  Tips and Visual Styles / StyleHacks / Re: regular / semibold / font Arimo on: July 06, 2014, 11:36:00 pm

On that page it only lists Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. So there is no semibold version of that font.

That property only works for Aero Basic themes and the Ribbon. Regular DWM window text alignment has always been hardcoded since Vista.

Where is the Ribbon Framework, can it be edited, and if so how do I go about it?  — Thanks!

No the Ribbon can't be customized. That blue isn't an image, it's a generated color.
