Documentation IdeaI got this idea to add a built-into-vsb community documentation feature; You would be able to add comments to any element or property by clicking the "ADD COMMENT" button. Those comments will then be made available to all other users directly. Community Comments, in turn, would be directly accessible from within VSB. Any thoughts on this? Because, before I'm going to implement it, I want to know if it will be used at all (see the requested wiki which isn't used in any way ). I think that would be a great idea.

Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: [Tip] VSB with custom shellstyle.dll
|
on: December 10, 2008, 04:26:10 am

Hi, For those who haven't figured it out yet, you can use your own shellstyle.dll by replacing it with the one in "C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Temp\Shell\NormalColor" (where <USER> is replaced with your screen name). To see the changes, you will have to "Stop" VSB and press "Test" or simply exit VSB and run it again. You will notice your custom shellstyle being used in conjunction with your VSB application. Hope this helps someone out there %temp%\Shell\NormalColor\ Easy for people who just want to copy/paste rather than browse for it if they've never been there.

That's all?
If so, then you are a saviour.
I'll try right away and post back.
EDIT: Well, that worked magnificent! A lot easier than I thought it would be. Thanks many! No problem

You have to break the theme in order to do this.
How to: 1.) Change all data in Documentation > Documentation 2.) Change the theme name by editing the DISPLAYNAME:STRING in Documentation > Variant > Color: Normal

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Can you confirm this mistake?
|
on: November 28, 2008, 06:27:18 pm

Hi, UK.Intel's guide ( here) has been helpful except that section 3.9 hex addresses doesn't change a thing for me. This is the hex tip that's supposed to change the mouse over color... IE Toolbar Text (Mouse Over), Address: 0x183F8, Original Hex Code: 00 00 00 (modify and add your own color hex code) I overwrote the original hex code with FF 00 00, FF FF FF, etc. and the mouse over text does not change at all. All the other hex changes have been successful so far. Does VSB alter normal.res? And can anyone confirm that changing this hex code does nothing? Thanks! VSB does alter the variant. The original HEX address the UK.Intel has in his guide is correct for the default variant.

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Where to find Windows Vista Basic glyphs?
|
on: November 26, 2008, 07:35:25 pm
|
I am looking for the help, minimize, maximize, restore, and close glyphs for the Vista Basic theme. I have edited the Aero glyphs but apparently Basic doesn't share the same resources -- I can't seem to find where I can edit these glyphs. First person who answers correctly gets a free cookie! Example: Windows and Caption Buttons > Basic > CloseButton Above the preview box there's a drop down. Should say Main Image. Change it to Glyph Image, DPI #.

You can also add the properties from Basic > AllProgramsTab to Aero > AllProgramsTab and it'll override rather than using the properties in Basic.

Hi guys! I'd like to ask you how to change the favorite links color text to black instead of blue? Should be somewhere in Explorer & Shell > Shell > CommonPlaces > Toolbar I can't tell you exactly as that's missing in 7.

Couldn't find it. I tried tracing it with his style and so much was different, I didn't know what was going on. I tried to do it manually but each time I did it the theme became corrupt

On PsycoB's latest style he noted in the description how to center the icons on a 22px taskbar through hex. Luckily, I did that manually before I saved it in VSB. I'm not sure what it adjusts or how to translate it in VSB.
As far as the text shift on the taskbar, it only becomes off center on the active/pressed button. I'm guessing it's hardcoded because I don't think anyone ever figured it out in XP either. I'm on it. Booting into Vista to trace it.

1: i have not much time to search your first asking question. for searching the problem i should have your work for searching it. but unfortunately i have not time. thats why i didnt respond. 2. adding a property , is just what it say, we add something new for having something different to the image or area we added, for example we add a text size bigger, or a different text color etc 3. http://http://www.vistastylebuilder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=374.i have failed to make right click translucent, thou you can using 3rd party freeware application like yzshadow http://http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/utilities/yzshadow.html [i have tried to experiment with alfa threshold, but failed] You have not be disapointed, i was months without respond, also some of my questions have not answered after 2 years hex editing and searching. What all did you try with the translucent context menu? I think it should be possible in some way.

task-bar bug.png[/attachment:246a85km]
Button 3 test.png[/attachment:246a85km] Vista / Win7 bug. I researched it and it shows a squished version of it. The thing is if you override the memory and changed the transparency to 100% you can still see the squished version while the regular is fully transparent.

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Explorer Back/Forward buttons
|
on: November 04, 2008, 05:06:23 pm

Where can I find these? I found some back forward buttons, and changed those but the changes only appeared in other apps that use those resources (ie. Vista DVD Maker). The arrows in explorer still looked the same. Are explorer's buttons in shellstyle? C:\Windows\System32\browseui.dll

Help / Windows Vista / Re: CAN ANY AREA BE TRANSPARENT WITH BLUR (aero style)???
|
on: November 03, 2008, 04:53:56 am

OK. Well if this aero thing is not possible, cant i just make those areas transparent and add an image as background (like a gradient color or a logo)? Or is just transparency not allowed for those areas? You mean add an image on behind the navigation/address/search bar? If so yeah it's possible. I'll write you a little tutorial tomorrow.

I'm referring to the blue button when you mouseover on of the items in the address bar (ie. the name of a folder) Toolbars, Headers and Rebar > Toolbars & Headers > BB Toolbar > Basic > Normal > Active > Button

Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: Image Number and Path
|
on: November 01, 2008, 12:40:52 am

So technically we can have two instances of VSB open (one with the parameter) and make the changes on the VSB without the parameters? Basically chain referencing... Image Guide -> VSB with noupdateimageids -> VSB without the parameter?
I hope I'm understanding this right. It would be really helpful for me. It'd be faster to run the DiffTool and click no to the dialog asking to not show changed image numbers.

Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: How do we move around the min/max/close buttons?
|
on: October 30, 2008, 04:24:42 am

I'm a noob to theme skinning, but if I remember correctly, he disabled (replaced with blank png?) the actual buttons and just modified the glyphs to look like buttons. That method has been used and I advise against it as the location remains the same where or not it appears different. You could use the DiffTool to see if he changed the basic buttons properties or not.

Hi,
I entered a hex value hoping to get all the elements using that color but it didn't work. How can I search by color? argb(a, r, g, b) 0-255. Don't forget spaces after commas.

Help / Windows Vista / Re: Text alignment in the window titlebar

Hi,
I've got a question. I don't know how I can change the alignment of the window titlebar text. I really can't find the right thing to change. Hope you can help me.
Btw: VSB is really great and is worth to pay for. You can only do it in Basic. Go to Windows and Caption Buttons > Basic > Caption Add Property Enum ContentAlignment Left/Right/Center.
