maybe a "use vs" button? not only after saving the style
Uh?

Documentation Idea
I got this idea to add a built-into-vsb community documentation feature; You would be able to add comments to any element or property by clicking the "ADD COMMENT" button. Those comments will then be made available to all other users directly.
Community Comments, in turn, would be directly accessible from within VSB.

Any thoughts on this? Because, before I'm going to implement it, I want to know if it will be used at all (see the requested wiki which isn't used in any way Sad).
I think that would be a great idea.

Set the borderpadding to 0 and edit the borders in the stream to look nicer.
1284  Help / Windows Vista / Re: How can I change this color? on: December 15, 2008, 01:11:37 pm
Search neowin for marching ants / rectangle in the Vista subforums. There's a DLL you need to register to get rid of that.
1285  Help / Windows Vista / Re: IE tab background--not showing up on: December 13, 2008, 07:39:31 pm
Search VSB for ReBar and see if they're all marginalized correctly.

Hi,

For those who haven't figured it out yet, you can use your own shellstyle.dll by replacing it with the one in "C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Temp\Shell\NormalColor" (where <USER> is replaced with your screen name).  To see the changes, you will have to "Stop" VSB and press "Test" or simply exit VSB and run it again.  You will notice your custom shellstyle being used in conjunction with your VSB application.

Hope this helps someone out there  :P
%temp%\Shell\NormalColor\

Easy for people who just want to copy/paste rather than browse for it if they've never been there.

Yes, but when I can't find something in VSB, then I can just go to restorator.
Search IMAGE. Then it lists all the images.

Do what Ave said. Though it'd be easier to use the DiffTool.

That's all?

If so, then you are a saviour.

I'll try right away and post back.

EDIT:
Well, that worked magnificent! A lot easier than I thought it would be. Thanks many!
No problem :)
1291  Other / Other / Re: Remove the Aero property from style on: December 05, 2008, 01:31:55 am
You have to break the theme in order to do this.

How to:
1.) Change all data in Documentation > Documentation
2.) Change the theme name by editing the DISPLAYNAME:STRING in Documentation > Variant > Color: Normal
1292  Help / Windows Vista / Re: different ReBar height in explorer and IE on: December 02, 2008, 08:41:15 pm
Does it do this in LHM7? Or just your theme? Because the ReBar in IE and Explorer are different sizes to begin with, making it hard to even them out.

Hi,

UK.Intel's guide (here) has been helpful except that section 3.9 hex addresses doesn't change a thing for me.

This is the hex tip that's supposed to change the mouse over color...

IE Toolbar Text (Mouse Over),    Address:  0x183F8,    Original Hex Code:  00 00 00 (modify and add your own color hex code)

I overwrote the original hex code with FF 00 00, FF FF FF, etc. and the mouse over text does not change at all.  All the other hex changes have been successful so far.  Does VSB alter normal.res?

And can anyone confirm that changing this hex code does nothing?

Thanks!
VSB does alter the variant. The original HEX address the UK.Intel has in his guide is correct for the default variant.
1294  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Where to find Windows Vista Basic glyphs? on: November 26, 2008, 07:35:25 pm

I am looking for the help, minimize, maximize, restore, and close glyphs for the Vista Basic theme.
I have edited the Aero glyphs but apparently Basic doesn't share the same resources -- I can't seem to find where I can edit these glyphs.

First person who answers correctly gets a free cookie!  :P

Example: Windows and Caption Buttons > Basic > CloseButton

Above the preview box there's a drop down. Should say Main Image. Change it to Glyph Image, DPI #.

so its not a big deal. still kinda annoying. :P
Odd. It shouldn't.

Start > StartMenu > Panels > Aero > Bottom > UserPane

Should be.
1298  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Start Menu help on: November 21, 2008, 02:16:28 pm
You can also add the properties from Basic > AllProgramsTab to Aero > AllProgramsTab and it'll override rather than using the properties in Basic.

On PsycoB's latest style he noted in the description how to center the icons on a 22px taskbar through hex. Luckily, I did that manually before I saved it in VSB. I'm not sure what it adjusts or how to translate it in VSB.

As far as the text shift on the taskbar, it only becomes off center on the active/pressed button. I'm guessing it's hardcoded because I don't think anyone ever figured it out in XP either.
I'm on it. Booting into Vista to trace it.

4.i have failed to make right click translucent, thou you  can using 3rd party freeware application like yzshadow http://http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/utilities/yzshadow.html  [i have tried to experiment with alfa threshold, but failed]

You have not be disapointed, i was months without respond, also some of my questions have not answered after 2  years hex editing and searching.
What all did you try with the translucent context menu? I think it should be possible in some way.

Well if this aero thing is not possible, cant i just make those areas transparent and add an image as background (like a gradient color or a logo)? Or is just transparency not allowed for those areas?
You mean add an image on behind the navigation/address/search bar? If so yeah it's possible. I'll write you a little tutorial tomorrow. ;)

Thanx for your quick answer btw
It stands for Desktop Window Manager. The thing that controls Aero.
1310  Help / Windows Vista / Re: CAN ANY AREA BE TRANSPARENT WITH BLUR (aero style)??? on: November 03, 2008, 03:27:16 am
It can't be changed unless you were to override DWM. Which an msstyle can't do.

Also please don't use all caps in your titles. :)

So technically we can have two instances of VSB open (one with the parameter) and make the changes on the VSB without the parameters?  Basically chain referencing... Image Guide -> VSB with noupdateimageids -> VSB without the parameter?

I hope I'm understanding this right.  It would be really helpful for me.
It'd be faster to run the DiffTool and click no to the dialog asking to not show changed image numbers.

Not to sure what you mean but you can run VSB with the -noupdateimageids parameter to not update the image numbers.

That method has been used and I advise against it as the location remains the same where or not it appears different. You could use the DiffTool to see if he changed the basic buttons properties or not.

You can only do it in Basic.

Go to Windows and Caption Buttons > Basic > Caption

Add Property
