I tried the new Color Search. As soon as I enter the first rgb value I get a screen asking me whether I want to search for that color in images too. I say yes and they show up. But I never get the chance to enter more than one value at a time, much less all 3 together.
Knowing me I'm likely missing something obvious. But I could use an explanation anyway. Thanks.

Tried that. No luck.
Even Spitzen gave up on it.
You can change the background at Menu>PopUp>Background. But that's all.
There's also a black text you can't change associated with Tab>Body.
But if you find out I'd be really grateful if you post the result. These are the 2 main flaws in my all black visual style!

That looks like the Address Bar Drop Down Menu. If it is then you can't change the black textcolor. I tried forever + gave up.
If you figure out how please post it.

Yeah I didn't know either. I can't remember who tipped me off now. Too bad nobody can agree on standard names for things. Like you said: it offers a preview so it should be called the freaking Preview Pane. Sorry again for deleting the thread...I really fucked up

Its in the Shellstyle in Reading Pane and (I think) ReadingPane NoHandler sections. There's a shitload of places. Hit em all and change the rgbs. In Win7 you can do it in VSB at ReadingPane(all credit to Koumy for this find). Sorry....I accidentally deleted this (and a bunch of other) threads. Major FUP.
I just checked: ReadingPane, RPaneCoverSheet_NoSel, and RPaneCoverSheet_NoHandler. I just searched down all 3 and changed the rgbs in all of them. There's a lot of them. Maybe 18 altogther. It worked anyway.

About the font thing. There isn't any fonts listed under Programs List or under Explorer>Tree>TreeItem (cuz Programs List is a Tree), So I'd guess the Font you want is in Fonts+SystemMetrics. Looking through those fonts I think the one you want to change might be MenuFont. On the other hand if you do want to add fonts the types you might want to be interested in changing is Font:Font , MenuFont:Font or BodyFont:Font. But seeing there aren't any fonts listed in Programs List adding one there might not do anything. And if you change fonts in Fonts+SystemMetrics you may also change fonts in places you don't want them to be changed cuz the change is system wide. This is all guesswork + could be totally wrong. If I were you I'd experiment with all of the above combinations and see if any of them work. If none do work, then start another thread. Be specific about what you need. Skip the "Noobie" stuff. Do separate ones for Fonts +Transparent ProgramsList. Maybe someone who really knows something will notice and help you. Good Luck.

Try using the forum search in the upper right hand corner for "transparent" not Google. You might find something. Don't know a lot about Font changing (never did it). Try a forum search for this too. You can change Fonts in Sysmetrics but that would probably be system-wide. Try it anyway....you can always change it back

You got the terms reversed. The stylehack made "more programs" transparent like it was supposed to. You want a transparent "programs list". That's what comes up when you click the "More Programs Tab". Anyway that's what I found confusing. There's no hack for this that I've seen. Do a search for "transparent" + see what you find. I'll look around too.
As to the fonts: you can change fonts and add fonts wherever they are used. If you want less "bold" ones find a font you like and then add it to the part you want it in. If you want it system wide then change it in sysmetrics. Hang in there.

Help / Windows Vista / Re: where do i find this bar?
|
on: October 05, 2009, 05:26:42 pm

Sunbeam is right. Lists, Menus+Tabs>Menu>Bar Background + Bar Item. I changed them before, then forgot about them cuz I never use the bar (though it shows up elsewhere but by that time I was off doing other things etc etc). So Menu Bar isn't Command Bar Module (or FolderbandModule). I didn't know that . Always learning something new!

In the picture the Menu Bar (CommandBarModule>1) is shown. If you have the autohide folder band feature (like I do) then the bar that is hidden is the Menu Bar(CommandBarModule>1). It looks different when hidden or shown (slightly different options). So both are the same thing.

Help / Windows Vista / Re: The context-menu of start menu ?
|
on: October 02, 2009, 08:02:30 pm

Sorry, I thought you meant the Program List after you click More Programs. To do More Programs you just recolor the image in an image editor in aero + basic start menu>panels. You do the same for NSC Host, More Programs Tab, Open Box, Top Match and Search View images. To color the Search Background you go to Address, Breadcrumbs>search>searchbox>basic>normal>active>1 to color Search Text go to Address,Breadcrumbs>Search>Edit>Basic and put in your TextColor If you have images just recolor them (mspaint, paint.net, gimp....any image editor). Otherwise use Fillcolors and Textcolors. Anyway you do all of this to get a totally recolored left side. Use the Explorer>Treeview to control the Program List after you click More programs Tab with a Fillcolor like I said and Tree List Item for textcolor. Now everything is done. Don't forget that when you change Explorer Treeview all treeviews everywhere will be changed including VSB etc! I know it sounds like a lot to do but it's easier than it sounds. I did it, and if I can do it anybody can do it.

Context Menu: like Spitzen said: StartMenu>Menus>Basic>ToolBar. Fillcolor:Color + Textcolor:Color. Background of Programs List on left side: Explorer+Shell>Explorer>TreeView. Then Fillcolor:Color (I manually colored the image too).

Sleek, elegant, a Work of Art 8) Too bad you have to change explorer.exe and system 32.exe. There's ways of doing the shutdown buttons without changing explorer though I don't know what they are Hope I can someday do something as fine as this.

I have a black Device Manager with Sysmetrics>Colors+Fonts>Window:Color ( the text is WindowTextColor:Color). But NEVER use white as Window Text Color or you'll end up like me a couple of weeks ago writing a post in this white box and not able to see anything I was writing . Always use a light or medium gray.

For me the device manager font is fonts+system metrics>windowtext:color. It is also the main window text in VSB. Maybe IE too. Change the color + see what happens.

You would have to go into the shellstyle and make the background and text the same color as what's around it. Such as proper tree module, host, and links header. If you get rid of that expando button let me know how you did it.

Background is shell>common places>toolbar>button. Then recolor the image manually. Or import your own if you're starting from scratch. Text is shell>common places>toolbar. Then add your textcolor:color.
