41  Help / Windows Vista / Re: 22px taskbar trouble on: February 24, 2009, 03:21:00 am
Sorry for budging in, but where can I change HEIGHT:SIZE to 0 (in order to get a 22px taskbar)? I searched for it and still cannot find it.
42  Help / Windows Vista / Re: [Bug] Editing images sometimes fails. on: February 24, 2009, 03:17:45 am
I've tried various image editing software with VSB. Paint.Net and Photoshop have been the primary two, and yet the problem still exists.
43  Help / Windows Vista / Re: [Bug] VSB crashes everytime when i want to edit/replace some images on: February 23, 2009, 10:36:30 pm
Have you tried the small bug-fix (which I believe this may fall under) which is located here: Link
It sets the starting image to 1 for vsb purposes (if you've ever used Restorator, you'd understand) and has been a decent fix for a number of vsb users. It helped me personally.
44  Help / Windows Vista / Re: [Bug] Editing images sometimes fails. on: February 23, 2009, 10:31:20 pm
Yes. This screen fades, but instead of staying faded with the dialog open, the dialog closes and it flashes back to being not faded.

This only happens sometimes, although I believe it may be a bug with 'canceling' an image editing session or when you hit 'I'm done editing' and the image hasn't been saved. That is generally when the bug presents itself, although I've had a few cases where it does it right from opening VSB.
45  Help / Windows Vista / [Bug] Editing images sometimes fails. on: February 23, 2009, 02:44:38 am
Sometimes when I try to edit an image by clicking the 'Edit' button next to 'Export', the prompt that follows (the one that has a button to press when you're done editing the image) closes itself when the VSB screen finishes fading to approximately +50% black.
46  Help / Windows Vista / Re: transparency question (re-phrased) on: February 23, 2009, 02:38:11 am
Maybe it's a bug in the auto-alpha converter part of VSB. Try to do modify the image with Paint.Net (free). Photoshop doesn't allow saving alpha channeled .png's. With Paint.Net you can save .png's in 32bit color (ie: alpha channeled) which had to be done before VSB came out so that Windows could register transparency in the images correctly. Some people used Alpha Image Converter to do the same.
47  Help / Windows Vista / Re: What program uses [Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Explorer Bar > Bar]? on: February 23, 2009, 02:27:30 am
I think I've seen it before in Alchohol 120%.
48  Help / Windows Vista / Re: rundll32 Error on Preview of Theme on: February 09, 2009, 03:19:47 am
Thanks for solving my problem! I was rather confused as to why this was happening.
49  Other / Other / Re: DirectUI XML - Notes that you can use. on: February 09, 2009, 03:11:25 am
Indeed. That helps quite a lot.
50  Tips and Visual Styles / Visual Styles / Re: Just got around to stripping blue off toolbars on: February 09, 2009, 03:08:18 am
Thanks, it helps.
51  Help / Windows Vista / Re: 22px taskbar trouble on: February 09, 2009, 03:05:05 am
Well, that certainly helps a lot, thanks!
52  Help / Windows Vista / Re: browseiu.dll on: February 09, 2009, 03:00:21 am
You could also use Paint.net (freeware) to select the bit depth of your file when saving. I generally use 24bit .bmp's for system files.
53  Main / Announcements / Re: VSB 1.3 & Vista on: January 28, 2009, 03:50:26 pm
Because I just did a fresh install of Ultimate over the weekend and SP1 isn't downloading in windows update (it shows up, but won't download)
54  Main / Announcements / Re: VSB 1.3 & Vista on: January 28, 2009, 02:48:40 am
I think I've found the issue.

Does VSB only work with Service Pack 1?
55  Tips and Visual Styles / Visual Styles / Re: Windows 7 Aero Theme Fix. on: January 27, 2009, 11:29:56 pm
Does anyone know why Windows 7 does this? Be it a fault in the .msstyles programming language, or just a general flaw.
56  Other / Other / Re: Buttons, check marks and progressbars ohh my! on: January 27, 2009, 08:54:50 pm
The only animations in the visual style are fading between two or three images. It isn't going to be able to handle seven or eight frames.
57  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Win&Caption->aero->dwn win->frames->fading = what is that? on: January 27, 2009, 08:49:47 pm
Hmm, yes, I'll have to check that out.
58  Main / Announcements / Re: UxThemePatcher & VSB on: January 27, 2009, 03:33:57 am
You know, I just reverted back to Vista and they come out with a x64 uxtheme patch.
59  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Win&Caption->aero->dwn win->frames->fading = what is that? on: January 27, 2009, 03:23:39 am
Those are some rather obscure points of the visual style and very difficult to test.
60  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Where is this image? on: January 27, 2009, 03:21:28 am
I don't think so.
61  Main / Announcements / Re: Version 1.3 with Windows 7 Support Released. on: January 27, 2009, 03:19:32 am
Has anyone else found another work-around for VSB not working on Vista x86?
62  Main / Announcements / Re: VSB 1.3 & Vista on: January 27, 2009, 03:17:30 am
As far as I can tell, VSB hasn't created any settings.ini files. It also hasn't created any temp files whatsoever. I haven't even been able to start it once.
63  Other / Other / Re: can exist commands to rebar or titlebar via utility ? on: January 27, 2009, 03:13:49 am
This is very intriguing and rather useful.
64  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Every Download Link is the Same. (EVERY!!!) on: January 27, 2009, 03:11:03 am
Well, that will hopefully shut people up, but there's no guarantee.
65  Other / Other / Re: Buttons, check marks and progressbars ohh my! on: January 27, 2009, 03:08:50 am
.PNG doesn't support animations so that you cannot implement them into a visual style.
66  Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: Adressbar Text on: January 27, 2009, 03:06:31 am
Hmm... Indeed. I've been looking for this also.

68  Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: modified aero style shellstyle.dll for VSB . on: January 27, 2009, 03:01:57 am
This is really interesting stuff and rather useful Cheesy
69  Main / Announcements / Re: VSB 1.3 & Vista on: January 27, 2009, 02:51:53 am
The directory you gave me did not exist. I'm not sure precisely what needs to be every/any-where.
70  Main / Announcements / Re: VSB 1.3 & Vista on: January 27, 2009, 12:07:21 am
That doesn't work. It still has the same result.
71  Main / Announcements / Re: Version 1.3 with Windows 7 Support Released. on: January 26, 2009, 10:51:08 pm
Wasn't it called 'Vista Style Builder' for a reason?
72  Main / Announcements / Re: Version 1.3 with Windows 7 Support Released. on: January 26, 2009, 08:58:32 pm
I don't think Ave would tolerate that.
73  Main / Announcements / Re: Version 1.3 with Windows 7 Support Released. on: January 26, 2009, 01:29:19 pm
Ave's been cool with everything up till now, but what is this?
74  Main / Announcements / Re: UxThemePatcher & VSB on: January 26, 2009, 05:55:19 am
The patch is up.
75  Main / Announcements / Re: Version 1.3 with Windows 7 Support Released. on: January 26, 2009, 05:54:05 am
Ave! Version 1.3 makes Vista freeze whenever I attempt to run it. I did a fresh install of Vista Ultimate and had to re-install VSB, but it doesn't work now. I don't understand why it freezes Vista, one would think that the program itself would crash and display an error message. Please send us a link to or re-upload VSB 2.5. This is really inconvenient.
76  Main / Announcements / Re: Version 1.3 with Windows 7 Support Released. on: January 21, 2009, 01:23:32 pm
Ahh! Does anyone know if there is a 64bit uxtheme patch yet?
77  Other / Other / Re: shellstyle in vsb ? on: January 13, 2009, 12:45:58 am
How about the stuff we already know about?

We could get VSB to treat the xml as a text doc, and have it swap some text.
Theoretically, just use a few IF and ELSE statements. (yes, I know it will be harder than that, I've had my hand at programming a little too)
78  Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: How do we move around the min/max/close buttons? on: January 13, 2009, 12:43:06 am
Ahh damn. Any ideas on how to screw around with this?
79  Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: How do we move around the min/max/close buttons? on: January 12, 2009, 11:54:31 pm
Do we have any more control than that? Like making the Aero close button smaller?
80  Main / Announcements / Re: Release of Version 1.2 on: January 12, 2009, 11:51:02 pm
What about using the original sizing margins from the WinXP themes? Along with various mechanics like caption button size, etc.
