2  Help / Windows 7 / Re: sndvol? on: January 10, 2015, 12:23:23 am
Hi thanks for your answers !!

SndVolSSO.dll ofc 3am Smiley
JMB is true, I have just also found it (by myself :p) : this is microsoft mouse & keyboard center, "Itype.exe" more precisely.
I don't see anything in start log or services so yes, we should just desinstall it or go to the option in "ms keyboard & mouse center" JMB was mentionning to avoid it to load at each start up ... (thanks xyl360, I'm alrigh in inspecting my start programs Wink

perhaps I'll give a try to see if this ugly stuff is customisable (& may be I'll upload on imgur to display in thread Wink... but I 'm pretty ok with snarl concerning notifications at the moment to be honnest.

Thanks again, and shall 2015 be great to all!

Joce.

ps: JMB your dark Path style looks great!
3  Help / Windows 7 / [solved] sndvol? on: January 08, 2015, 11:53:40 pm
Hi, happy new year to all, 3am, PandaX, Andreas & all the windows modders!!

I have a small problem I dont find any answer anywhere. I've just had a new keyboard.
My old keyboard was a logitec using SetPoint.exe, which showed a volume, caps lock & vernum indicators.
Now back to raw windows, even deactivating motherboard stuff (msi, realtek) in system tray, I still have what's shown in attached image below when I change volume, which I think is sndvol.exe related, but dont find how to deactivate or to modify resource images.

Any idea ?

thx in advance!!
Joce
4  Help / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 / Re: Theme resource changer windows 8 rtm ot 8.1 rtm on: January 12, 2014, 01:27:02 am
Hi man,

I think that the "stupid f***er" you talking about is the developper of WSB himself, said the owner of the forum...
assuming that you're making reference to "resource replacer / respy", I guess it has not originally been developped to be a universal, but only a non-released start orb button replacer, which has then kindly been brought to us in the useful mod we know.

Anyway, you should today search for "OldNewExplorer" on the forum, cause I think this is what's next concerning convenient resource replacememnt in W8&8.1.

Best regards,
Joce

edit : after having come back here & reading you again, I've understood that you're not saying that anyone is a *****, but that microsoft doesnt care about modding the look of the OS.... anyway, ----> OldNewExplorer, i think thats the point

EXPLORERFRAME.DLL BUDY !!  Cheesy
cheerz

you gotta tweek the 40960 UIFILE. Man can just recommand the thank-god-it-exists resource replacer http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=1290.0

have a good time !!

bytheway : your thread title is wrong : it's not about "system32 folder" but "explorer window files & folders names color text" + it shouldn't be under the "bugs" section, but inside the "Windows 7 help" ...

BUT : having something different in sys'32 than in other folder is weird as hell. I can't figure it out. very strange...
although i don't remember exactly the structure of explorerframe (it's been a while), since there's different kind of folders types inside shellstyle (generic, documents, music, photos.....), it's gotta be something like this inside explorerframe no ? I'm not convinced anyway, I'm curious to know about this

Hello all !

Does anyone knows which virtualization solution to choose for our purpose : testing windows customization stuffs (like boot animations, logon screens, and so on)
and thus avoid the -restart-restore-backup process (in best cases) ?
I mean :
-which software / version ?
-any favorite quick tutorial to go along with ?

Thanks for the help !

11  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: COMPLETELY FUCKED UP MY STYLE :(((((((( on: September 13, 2013, 01:23:07 am
YEA COOL!

Sure I'll do this or ... would bring back the whole <shellstyle> tree of the f****d up msstyle into the PandaX DMW cleaned up msstyles perhaps...
12  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: COMPLETELY FUCKED UP MY STYLE :(((((((( on: September 13, 2013, 12:30:27 am
ok I put it down here, I think it's the "base ready" one.
that's the folder in the same dir that the .msstyle
not the same as the "test mode" one, if I have correctly understood, which is in the %temp% dir ...

thx

If we manage to rescue it, I promise I'll release it, with the windowframe, and all the solid .dll replacements x86 & x64 properly organised and ready to use !!!
13  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: COMPLETELY FUCKED UP MY STYLE :(((((((( on: September 12, 2013, 11:19:36 pm
Yea thanks for having spotted this issue, but :

I've copy pasted it in my ressource folder (after having renamed the extension of the corrupted one) then I lauched the theme that activates it : it has worked fine until :

I turned on the replacer, then the next window I opened has shown nothing in it : completely white : (

So :
-turned of the replacer : open another window nothing change
-killed explorer
-killed dmw

-relaunched explorer : still the same !
-...
-restart computer : still the same : white windows

I didn't even opened it in WSB !!!

$***t !!! whats wrong with me !!

edit : I now can open things, including in WSB : the browse windows popups (but lot of stuff missing : right panel, topview...)  Huh?

edit 2 : almost self explanatory bonus pictures :

After having broken my ass for nights during years on this baby, I thing I've not finished to sware on myself for not having done a f**** backup before doing $*****!

Good night !

EDIT later : ok, I see in WSB that all the <shellstyle> section had been droped out... it could explain a few things

I'm using resource spy, but not anymore with aero right now...

I've hard-charged some dll yes, like explorerframe. I don't know if there also can be a pb with shellstyle... I'm totally knocked out with what's happening to me.

Jus wanted to change two values. No backup (fuck me!)

And now I'm like a 9 years old kid in front of a fully infected OS lol

the "browse button" to attach file here, as well as in WeTransfer,

in firefox as well as in ie

just like what happened with the "open" or "save" button inside WSB

don't work no more  Huh?

Hi, here's my story :

-I downloaded the latest release : WSB 155

-I opened up my active msstyle & changed INFOBK & INFOTEXT to fix my caption tooltips

-I saved ("apply aero" // "use saved theme")

-then dmw crashed, and all windows that i tried to open (right desktop clik>personalize, configuration panel, explorer) are with nothing inside, only the -classic- frame.

-Then when I tried to rollback, on the parameters that I had changed, to stop the festival, WSB didn't allow me to "open an existing theme" or to save it : SHIIIIT !!

please help!

thx in advance
18  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Min/Max/Close pop-up help on: September 11, 2013, 11:38:20 pm
It's been a long time, I know...

To change the fontface of those caption tooltips, I think it's the register tweak... so preaty tricky considering how many places are changed at the same time!

cheers

20  Help / Windows 7 / Re: How do I make a theme... as if I downloaded it? on: August 27, 2012, 12:30:00 am
Hi Lonefox,

"Stylehacks" have use only inside WSB. It'a kind of shortcut. Just like pieces of code for programers.

".msstyle" files are the files that contain most parts of visual elements of your theme (aero.msstyle is the windows original visual style but
you can create or download other ones -you have to patch system files first with universal theme patcher)
when you create your theme, you save it as a .msstyle file.

.theme files are simple scripts. When you execute it, it tells to windows not only which visual style (msstyle) to apply, but also which sounds, cursors, aero color etc..)

Hope this helps...

We all deal with (at least) two anoying things when we theme windows :

-1) "windowcolor"      -2) the unreachable black textcolor

that's life  Wink

23  Tips and Visual Styles / Visual Styles / Re: big problem with the shell on WSB on: July 01, 2012, 11:37:18 am
If you start from the Luna theme, the original shellstyle resources are created with the msstyles resources inside each of the three folders (blue, homestead, metallic) in a folder called "shellstyle". Perhaps you messed something with those folders ?

Here is a rare place where you have top quality & fast answers (I suggest you test other places, for example messengerplus forum where I posted one week ago a poor question and haven't got yet any answer....).

peace to 3am and among, looking forward to seeing soon your vs in the appropriate section  Tongue

26  Help / Windows 7 / How to make the explorer background transparent ? on: June 16, 2012, 04:28:48 pm
I've tried a couple of things in explorer itemsview to replace the fillcolor, none of them worked.
A lot of themes currently produced show this though.... but I haven't found any explanations with my friend Google until now.

Does anyone knows ?

I've just had it, but actually this is not the same thing/message :

Compiling the MsStyle file
the target file is in use

Sorry ! Embarrassed

some details:
It does it while I've already said "yes" to switch to aero, and apparently switched. It doesn't compile even if I try a lot of times. I just have to do what I told above.
By the way I notice that the font inside the tabs of the taskmanager (process list, headers...) is not segoe's aero but 'mine'
After having saved and applied the theme, there is no text anymore for the menu items of this taskmanager until I relaunch it.
31  Windows Style Builder / Bug Reports / Re: Recently errors during save and test on: May 13, 2012, 05:54:13 pm
If it's happening when you first test/save then try again. For some reason WSB tends to fail on first try.

When I'm experiencing it, I simply stop explorer.exe, save it, then launch back explorer. It has always worked.

32  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Windows System Rating on: May 13, 2012, 12:28:39 pm
I come 4 month later....
thanks to have made available your work on this.

I have noticed that, with a totally black alpha layer (and a "hex color"=44, 45, 45):
-the upper left pixel gives the shadow color of the score
-the adjacent pixel immediately on the right is the transparent color. But this color, if present under the score number, will show up through the antialiasing pixels!

illustration :

Here the shadow and the transparent color are the same (red) making the shadow transparent everywhere BUT through the anti-aliasing of the score.
33  Help / Windows 7 / Re: CONTROL PANEL command module topview prefix-like "sort by" label ?? on: May 11, 2012, 01:16:20 am
Shame on me! I use base & was still on the TEMP shellstyle while testing  Cheesy

so that was that : Shellstyle > Shellstyle:LibraryPaneTopViewButton > atom(TopViewPrefix) > Element
thx 4 thee answer...

As usually, I wanted to turn this segoe font to the one used in what I build.
So I had to add a font property to the base shellstyle :

Code: xml

font="gtf(TEXTSTYLE, 4, 0) was in the tag bellow and suits well in my case.

35  Help / Windows 7 / Re: BUG in MS Paint and Wordpad on: May 02, 2012, 06:40:50 pm
Bingo!

Thanks 3am! & thanks PandaX (feels like I already said that recently no ?) for your so precious help!!

That was that : I've put back the MSGBOXFONT to Segoe 9pt and the ribbons have come back to their original "zoom states".

From now, I "just" have to find whats the impact of this to keep the lovely tiny pixel fonts where I want...It might not help me to get out my release faster  Cheesy.

thx again!!!!

Sorry i was joking  Cheesy, I meant to say that all is much bigger. As if any DPI setting was mysteriously changed only for those ribbons.
37  Help / Windows 7 / [RESOLVED] BUG in MS Paint and Wordpad on: May 01, 2012, 10:49:28 pm
Hi,

I have just noticed this, and I don't know at all what I did that could have caused this very annoying thing :

With every visual styles but mine (base / non-base / named "aero" or not) :

Normal DPI

Now with my vs :

DPI = 15 000  Sad

My advice : check it regularly while developing yours.

(Please don't hesitate to show me a direction where to look for in order to fix this...)

38  Help / Windows 7 / Re: IE9 Frame Notification Bar on: May 01, 2012, 08:26:50 pm
Too Nice! Thanx 3am! Just when I was about to give up  Smiley
I should have started Res Spy before opening ie9, and not just before clicking. This way 4 UIFILES appear : 20497 (the good one!), 20743 (...), 20738 and 50248.

My problem was the text :

To adjust font size of the message text, in 20497 just go the line 29 (I changed fontsize="9pt" to "6pt") :
Code:
<element layoutpos="left" layout="borderlayout()">
<element id="atom(messageholder)" layoutpos="client" layout="borderlayout()">
<DUINotificationText id="atom(messagetext)" layoutpos="client" accRole="statictext" accName="resstr(0xA0C2)" accessible="true" contentalign="middleleft | endellipsis" fontsize="6pt"/>
</element>

And you're done !

then just for the fun (and obviously the knowledge of all that stuff) :
To change the font of this text, we can go directly at line 3, the 1st code line (I changed font="gtf(TEXTSTYLE, 4, 0)" to "menufont") :
Code:
<duixml>
<element id="atom(root)" resid="main" sheet="styleDynamic" bordercolor="themeable(rgb(0, 0, 0), windowframe)" borderthickness="rect(1, 1, 1, 1)" layout="filllayout()" font="menufont" accessible="true" accname="resstr(0xA0C0)" accrole="toolbar">

And if someone someday wants to change the font of the buttons text, it's at line 514 (here font="gtf(TEXTSTYLE, 4, 0)" is put to "captionfont") :
Code:
<style resid="DUIToolbarButtonStyle">
<if id="atom(ActionButtonLabel)">
<Element background="argb(0, 0, 0, 0)" contentalign="middleleft" font="captionfont" layoutpos="client"/>
</if>

can't manage to change just the buttons text font size, as for the message text color. only got the buttons text color by adding a foreground property somewhere, I think that was at line 3.

PandaX was right, that was in a UIFILE...
39  Help / Windows 7 / Re: IE9 Frame Notification Bar on: May 01, 2012, 12:59:17 pm
I'm afraid that 20743 is the only UIFILE that appeared inside resource spy when this "window" poped in ie9 x64

I've replaced it with a empty one : the effect is that only the tabs & tab bar, as well as the url history dropdown did not show up anymore.
