Because you have transparency in your window frames. Here it is with solid color frames:

Blue is Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top
Red is Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Bottom

So, what would be a fix that wouldn't cause issues elsewhere? Setting the Transparency=0 in the .theme seems to give me light colorization of the shadow/blur around the edges and doesn't really fix the menu....

Thanks for your help  :)

There isn't any. That's just the way it is set up.

You can go into the RCData folder in sidebar.exe in Program Files > Windows Sidebar and change a lot of png images like the selection highlight etc but I don't, offhand, see anything in there about frames

Oh OK, well that's fine with me actually. I'll leave it alone then. It's use-able, and not everyone uses the gadgets. I don't.
Thanks again!
