Title: Where are the images for the MS Paint UI?
Post by: AeroFTW on June 17, 2014, 02:20:33 am
I was finishing up a theme, and when i opened up MS Paint, it apparently turned into an ugly mess of bits and pieces of my theme. It looked pretty terrible (much worse than my actual theme). I opened up a similar theme, and Paint looked normal. I guess I changed too many images in WSB, but I couldn't find the ones that would've affected Paint.

Help?

Can you show a screenshot of what you're experiencing?

How do I insert images to a post? When I click the insert image icon to reply, it just adds "[img][\img]".

You don't show what you want to change but:

You got a white High Contrast ribbon. Get it back to normal by making sure either Fonts & System Metrics > BTNFACE:COLOR isn't pure white ( make it rgb 256,255,255 instead of 255,255,255) or BTNTEXT:COLOR isn't pure black (make it 1,0,0, instead of 0,0,0) at the same time.

Is that what you want to know? Or do you want to know more? Or something else?

You got to do more than just show a picture with no explanations if you expect any  help.

Right, well I'm basically trying to get Paint back to normal. Here's a picture with a few of the parts I don't care for: https://www.flickr.com/photos/55597373@N02/14452963966/

And this is how it should look: https://www.flickr.com/photos/55597373@N02/14289477768/in/photostream/

I'm wondering where the images are located that control the ribbon tabs, orange button highlights, etc.

I told you how to get it back to normal.

In a normal ribbon you can't change any of the background colors like the orange highlights. You can only change some frames and borders using properties like BTNSHADOW, BTNHIGHLIGHT etc

If you stick with that High Contrast ribbon you can change a lot using this as a guide:

Turns out it was Fonts & System Metrics > BTNFACE:COLOR and  BTNTEXT:COLOR after all.  I guess I changed them to black and white at some point before, but I don't remember doing so. I changed them to just a bit off of black and white, and the normal UI came back. Thanks!
