Title: Windows 8 theme broken after WSB crashed
Post by: link6155 on March 03, 2013, 03:05:32 am
I was testing my theme when I decided to save it. After saving it I wanted to test it out. This crashed my computer. When I log back on, my theme was applied, however the original theme file seems corrupt now.

I was wondering how does WSB apply the theme and is there any ways to recover my theme since it's currently applied on my computer?

Can you upload your broken theme so we can take a look at it?

I've uploaded the corrupt theme in the attachment.

I've found a solution to my problem. I found my theme in the "testing" folder inside my programdata folder.

When WSB crashed it corrupted the theme though still had Windows apply it which caused everything to go bad. When you rebooted Windows applied the last known working theme since the one before is corrupted. Since it was a test theme do you not have an original before you tested?

Or which one is corrupted, the one in testing or the original?

Window started up with my theme I was trying to apply, however the original theme file (the theme I was making) came up corrupted. Luckily, I had tested it before applying, so my theme was saved in the "testing" folder.

To answer your question, the original theme file was the one that went bad.

To restore I suggest just renaming the test theme if it's still there. It should still be there since it applied on boot.
