Is there a way to remove that icon?

It would have to be done via a third party program, and to my knowledge one doesn't exist yet.

It removes it from the taskbar too though.

about taskbar, some icons are hidden and some are not hidden.

There is no way to adjust the content margins to push it off the window?

No, the content margins for DWM are used for a different purpose.
