Actually an addition which could be useful is a alternate key press to force the transparency fix for cases where it issn't applied. That would be of both worlds.

It's forced everywhere except in DWM Window because it renders differently.

A temp fix until I get home and find the property that affects this: change the image width to be as little as possible and adjust the sizing margins.

Quick question, anyone know where can I find an example of Shadowless frames in the Win7 UI? I'm very hesitant to make any changes without being able to find it in use somewhere to do a proper test.

Right Click Compute -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance Settings -> Untick 'Show shadows under windows'

i am in win 7 now
i dont know why , any theme for win7 i download works well
but when i mod any image of the themes, and applied, they wil crash or just show basic model
i tried paint.net and ps cs4 to edit images, i found the png saved by ps is larger than which done by paint.net
so i treid all kinds of png files, 8 bit, 24, 32, ...
i edit images save them on desktop, and then import.
but never success, crash and crash again, what wrong?
anyone can help me?
is there any skills to mod the images?

Sounds like what happens when you try to test a Vista theme.
Does this happen with all Win7 themes you try to edit?

Wow. Only problems I see is that white text with white glow looks bad and orange on white has a bad contrast ratio. Look great though!

Memory editing it's possible.

Click the drop down in the search box and set it to properties. Search for USERPICTURE:BOOL. Set it to false (untick it)

People installed it wrong? It's the same file. There's no such thing as a 64-bit msstyles.

i have applyed the stylehack but the glow appear only on search text not to adress bar to. i'm using version 1.4

Hmm. Quite interesting as when I used it the same thing happened. It worked on an imported Vista theme.

Oh. I see what I did. Exported the wrong properties.

Redownload it. Tested it and it works now.

Search for SearchEditBox and then go to Part 1 State 1.

My XML's are different so I can't tell you the original path in the tree.

As for the column in 7 it's ItemsView::Header. Again you have to search for it in the search box as my XML's are different.

That first picture. Are you talking about the text?

As for the second it might have do be done via DirectUI editing of explorer's internal dll files. I'll take a look at it.

I changed the settings.ini and made a new style from original aero.msstyles.

5 reboots, many logoff/login: no crash so far!

Yeah I see it now. I used your theme and got the same error. Ran a diff on yours and mine (no changes) and found that your image numbers were starting at 10000 which apparently caused the crashes.

Could you launch eventvwr.msc check Event Viewer (Local) > Windows Logs > System and see if anything is mentioned about WinLogon or UxTheme or something to do with the logon process.

Yeah. There's nothing different at all about the msstyles from one architecture to another.

Hi, I wanted to edit the windows classic theme and I was wondering if there was a windows classic .msstyles file, I looks like the themes folder and all I found was a .theme file

Classic is drawn from GDI using vectors. Not raw images like the msstyles are.

Isn't basic suppose to use opaque images? Or does Windows simply convert the transparent image to an opaque version when basic is used?

Make the image so in an image editor. It doesn't work well though because under the image is the old menu.

No translucency but transparency I believe would be possible. (Meaning not partial but fully where you could make it rounded.) I'll test it and reply back on info.
