Hey guys!
Im relatively new to this skinning business but am willing to have a go and with the right help im sure everything will work out fine! Smiley

Anyways I have two questions:
(1) How to I change the start menu font, well not the actual "font" as such but how do i make the text NOT appear in bold
-> to clarify I have tried/searched all the possible solutions to this including:
The direction outlined here: http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=552.msg2604;topicseen

(2) How do I make the "more programs list" transparent (picture provided)
-> I have followed panda.x and his directions provided here: http://stylehacks.deviantart.com/art/Composited-Programs-List-101699264?offset=10#comments

im running Vista Ultimate x64, any help appreciated.

Thanks to all in advance!

EDIT: Clarified by what i meant in (1)

Thanks for the reply,

no the style hack worked fine, but you see it only makes the "programslist" (i believe that is what it is called) transparent, which is awesome,
but I would also like the "more programs" window to be transparent also (refer to image provided in previous post)

So to answer your question yes it did make the start menu transparent but not the "more programs" section

You got the terms reversed. The stylehack made "more programs" transparent like it was supposed to. You want a transparent "programs list". That's what comes up when you click the "More Programs Tab". Anyway that's what I found confusing. There's no hack for this that I've seen. Do a search for "transparent" + see what you find. I'll look around too.

As to the fonts: you can change fonts and add fonts wherever they are used. If you want less "bold" ones find a font you like and then add it to the part you want it in. If you want it system wide then change it in sysmetrics. Hang in there.

thanks again, 3am! Smiley, apologies about the terminology.

ok, so I have taken your advice on board, to change my font you suggest adding a font option to whatever I would like for example: (examples are very important here, since I have no idealol)

Start->StartMenu->Menus->Panels->Aero->Top->MorePrograms-> here is where i add the font option? I have tried this-> font:font= verdana,8,cleartype
and the bold text still holds Sad
I think it might be controlled else where but am unsure, ive done a thourough search on "the google" to change the bold text to normal but nothing productive came of it.

Thanks for the encouragement. Smiley

Try using the forum search in the upper right hand corner for "transparent" not Google. You might find something.

Don't know a lot about Font changing (never did it). Try a forum search for this too.

You can change Fonts in Sysmetrics but that would probably be system-wide. Try it anyway....you can always change it back Wink

Oh k, yea I have been using the search (top left) but still not too much help, will try again though.
with regards to the fonts in Sysmetrics, this does give me results (I have tried it before) but the text still remain BOLD. argh lol
i dont know why I care so much, but I want to find out if/how to change it lol

Thanks for the quick replies.

About the font thing. There isn't any fonts listed under Programs List or under Explorer>Tree>TreeItem (cuz Programs List is a Tree), So I'd guess the Font you want is in Fonts+SystemMetrics. Looking through those fonts I think Shocked the one you want to change might be MenuFont. On the other hand if you do want to add fonts the types you might want to be interested in changing is Font:Font , MenuFont:Font or BodyFont:Font. But seeing there aren't any fonts listed in Programs List adding one there might not do anything. And if you change fonts in Fonts+SystemMetrics you may also change fonts in places you don't want them to be changed cuz the change is system wide.
This is all guesswork + could be totally wrong.
If I were you I'd experiment with all of the above combinations and see if any of them work.
If none do work, then start another thread. Be specific about what you need. Skip the "Noobie" stuff. Do separate ones for Fonts +Transparent ProgramsList. Maybe someone who really knows something will notice and help you.
Good Luck. Smiley
