Title: Aesthetic problem with Header.item
Post by: mik2b on June 24, 2009, 07:40:14 pm
Hi,
Finally I redesigned my scrollbars, and I like it.
But I've a problem with the 'default' header.item tab.
It's hard to explain, so I upload an image:
As you can see, the union between header.item and scroll is very "forced". In the first time, I change up arrow button for scrollbars, that includes a border for header.item, but it appears always (in a notepad, for example) and I don't like it very much.

I change the default image for Header.item (that appears when there's no tab, at right). I create a 4px image, and adjust sizing margins to 1, 2, 0, 0 (I want a 1px border in left and 2px border in right). But image appears as you see in image: it doesn't take care about this 2px right border, and only takes the first 2px. I tried so many things, but I'm not able to do a 1 or 2 px border at right of this default header.item.
What can I do? Is this not possible?

Any aesthetic suggestion, or something? I don't like this "forced" header.
This tabs are creating me so many problems...

Thanks, any help will be helpful :)

I haven't been able to find a way to fix this either.  It seems to ignore the right margin value.  :o

How did you make your command module smaller?

Seems the Scroller is a floater. One thing you could try is putting some padding on the listview. Not too sure how well that would work though.

Why not make that image 6px wide?  Just leave two columns of pixels blank on the right side.

Panda X: I don't understand it very much. You're talking about adding this tabs in left, in prefered places?

iffy525: it doesn't matter if image is 6, 10 or 60px wide. It seems that only takes 2px in left, and ignore the rest. I add 2 more pixels at right, and it doesn't appear.

iJesse: Now I really don't remember. But I'd done a tutorial long time ago; you can see it here: http://www.aeroxp.org/board/index.php?showtopic=11943&hl=
If you find it interesting, maybe I can add this post here.

Thanks for the help, and what I would do in your situation is add another one pixel line right next to the right edge and see if it is able to be seen.

Actually not. In my example I did a 4px image, but as I said, it doesn't matter if is 4, 6, 10 or 50px. It only takes first 2px, I don't know why...

I was trying different ways to do a more aesthetic solution, but I don't know what to do.
I am wondering if there's a way to change text color of this tabs.

I don't think you can change the style of the text in the sort tabs.
You can change the color, but I forget where.  The sad thing is that you can only use one color for all of them.

Well, no problem.
I was looking where can I change the text colour, but I didn't find it anywhere; so it would be very helful if you (or somebody) could tell me where.

Thanks.

If I remember correctly it was there: Fonts, Colors & System Metrics > Fonts & System Metrics > BTNTEXT:COLOR

Thanks, it's definitely this.
But, a question: It only change this tabs, or another text anywhere too? Because I want to change it to white or gray, and I don't want to damage other parts.

Thank you all; I will try to redesign this part.

I will change it to green and try it for some days, looking what parts are changing too.

BTW, there's another way to change this color? I tried it adding properties, but I didn't achieved my purpose.

Juhm, I will try with this; I hope I could do some bar more aesthetic than this.

This header.item is getting on my nerves!
