I renamed the files as you suggested but it hasn't helped. Any other ideas
2  Help / Windows Vista / Unable to apply styles. on: April 07, 2009, 01:11:42 pm
So far I have experienced no problems with my styles but after not using VSB for a few days, I have noticed that I unable to use them as my main vista style. I haven't changed any files or anything. Ever since creating styles, I have been using VistaGlazz to patch the theme files and wondering if this is conflicting with the built in patch in VSB. If not, I don't know why they won't work. Any help please?
3  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Unresolved explorer bar problem on: April 01, 2009, 10:36:15 pm
I wouldn't know where to start to look so i could check it
4  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Unresolved explorer bar problem on: April 01, 2009, 10:07:39 pm
You mean in VSB?
5  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Unresolved explorer bar problem on: April 01, 2009, 08:25:23 pm
well after trying your suggestions, i find that the problem still remains even with an aero style. I think the best bet would be to try and locate the area in the shellstyle and modify it from there and making a backup of the original.
6  Help / Windows Vista / Re: User Account Control popup windows on: April 01, 2009, 08:02:31 pm
That is the one I was talking about and thanks. I managed to change the "copy" section and will start to look for the other sections. If I find them I will let you know
7  Help / Windows Vista / User Account Control popup windows on: March 30, 2009, 05:28:54 pm
Is there any way to change the colours in the UAC popup windows. Unable to provide a pic but when a program is started and permission is needed to access it, the popup window appears saying "AN unidentified program wants to access your computer". I'm hoping to get rid of that horrible orange background from where the above quote is displayed and also the grey area from a similar popup window stating "A program needs your permission to continue".  I've been able to change the window borders but not sure if these areas are accessible in VSB or through the shellstyle or similar. Any help?
8  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Unresolved explorer bar problem on: March 30, 2009, 04:13:47 am
Well after finally figuring out how to change the colour of that bar, i now find that after saving and applying the style that it disappears and i'm left with a gray bar as if it's reverted to an old style theme shown here: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/771257ecdbee908ScreenShot008.bmp. Any suggestions?

12  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Start Menu help on: March 29, 2009, 05:07:46 pm
Still on the topic of the start menu, I have been able to change the log off and lock buttons, but is there a way to be able to create a similar style button for the side menu arrow show here: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/06343db5c6a3b29ScreenShot004.bmp

Problem resolved as shown here: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/08248dd404ff1c5ScreenShot005.bmp
13  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Start Menu and Tray Notify help on: March 28, 2009, 06:12:53 am
i tried restarting and found explorer in C:\Users\(MyName)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Windows Explorer.exe which is where i'm guessing the original is located.

Just realised that original is in c:\windows and got it working now. thanks
14  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Start Menu and Tray Notify help on: March 28, 2009, 04:39:43 am
ok thanks. After viewing another post in regards to changing the log off buttons, I opened explorer.exe in reshack and managed to change the buttons but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the start menu. Is there something extra i need to do in order to get them working?
15  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Start Menu and Tray Notify help on: March 27, 2009, 10:16:09 pm
Would that happen to be in TrayNotifyHoriz::TrayNotify>Background? Also that stylehack wasn't quite what i was looking for and didn't seem to make a difference but thanks anyway. Also, i'm trying to change the outlay of the start menu and where the search box is, there seems to be an opaque layer surrounding it (shown in pic http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/6251523e4355f01ScreenShot003.bmp) thats if you can see it of course, and i'm trying to remove the transparency. Is it possible?
16  Help / Windows Vista / Start Menu and Tray Notify help on: March 27, 2009, 08:36:47 pm
1) Is there any way to make the start menu (at point 1 in pic) see through like the taskbar (at point 2 in pic)? http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/6606582c9284174ScreenShot001.bmp

2) Is there a way to increase the margins for lettering as they seem to be cut off at the ends in the tray notify at the points shown: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/439582c92841741ScreenShot002.bmp
17  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame on: March 16, 2009, 04:42:06 pm
Another thing I have just noticed, after changing a random object and testing it, that greeny/blue bar has come back. I've just saved the style with the background still as greeny/blue, applied it and it's disappeared again. I'm seriously confused now!!! Huh?
18  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame on: March 16, 2009, 04:33:30 pm
Well i don't know whats happened, but after checking the area, that greeny/blue colour has disappeared and the buttons have turned square as shown here: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/8498f52a6871fd1ScreenShot005.bmp. Seems like an error has occured.
19  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame on: March 16, 2009, 01:19:56 am

Excellent. Thankyou very much
21  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame on: March 16, 2009, 12:27:00 am
So how long will it be before having to wait for this update (approx)?
22  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame on: March 15, 2009, 08:52:57 pm
I just don't understand why there is active/inactive options for bottom and top but not for left and right. I was hoping to have the inactive borders as opaque which works fine for top and bottom.
23  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Active/Inactive frame on: March 15, 2009, 08:06:32 pm
Anyone!!!!
24  Help / Windows Vista / Active/Inactive frame on: March 15, 2009, 07:12:18 pm
Is there a way to change the left and right sides of the window frames so that there can be an active and inactive option for them as when the window is active the colour i chose is in use, shown here: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/2195036c8e133c1Active_border.bmp, but when the window is inactive, the frame stays the same colour but would like it to be like the bottom of the window as here: http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/097912a25d859a6InActive_Border.bmp. Any help please
25  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Newbie Help!!! on: March 10, 2009, 09:25:02 pm
Oh exactly. I should have worded it better. It will be one at a time. I'm not adventurous enough to do all at once

27  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Newbie Help!!! on: March 10, 2009, 07:21:40 pm
I did notice those and was very impressed. What i've decided to do (even if it is long winded) is export all the images available from a .msstyle, categorise them appropriately, import them to either Photoshop or Expression Design, create my own designs within each border size and then import them to the .msstyle. Just hope it works that way
28  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Newbie Help!!! on: March 10, 2009, 02:34:01 pm
I've just bought Expression Design 2 and wondering if that would be any good for the designing
29  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Scrollbar Trouble on: March 10, 2009, 02:33:01 pm

30  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Scrollbar Trouble on: March 08, 2009, 11:53:32 pm
And how would i go about doing that?
31  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Scrollbar Trouble on: March 08, 2009, 10:36:08 pm
Hi,
I'm not trying to use transparent images for the scroll bar. In the first screenshot is the scroll bar i'm trying to remove. In this screen shot http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/0125124c77cd821ScreenShot004.png point 1 is the thumb i'm using for the scrollbar. Point 2 shows the annoying scrollbar lurking underneath the scroll bar i'm trying to use but i can't remove it or find it in the tree

The picture is here http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/659242229c6a095ScreenShot002.png

See here how it shows under the scroll bar

33  Help / Windows Vista / Scrollbar Trouble on: March 08, 2009, 08:46:57 pm
I am in the middle of creating scrollbars and have noticed after testing them i have an annoying black rectangle directly behind them and is noticed around the edges of my created scrollbars and also it shows when the cursor is hovering over the track. Is there anyway to remove it as can't find it in the tree.

Thanks
34  Help / Windows Vista / Re: Newbie Help!!! on: March 08, 2009, 05:00:12 pm
Hi, thanks for responding. I am just creating themes for myself at the moment until I am used to it. As I built my PC from scratch, I thought that designing my own themes would add an extra little touch to it. I have been going through some of them and trying to edit and test which is working ok but i do find that I edited Normal and Hot under Start> Panels> Basic> MoreProgramsTab>, but when i try to edit Focused, it cancels out the work I have done in Normal and Hot.

Another question, what would you the say is the best program to edit images as currently I have Fireworks as only got a Trial of Photoshop CS4?

Regards
35  Help / Windows Vista / Newbie Help!!! on: March 08, 2009, 03:39:46 pm
I am new to VSB and finding it a little difficult. I have been reading all the topics in this forum and have some ideas on what I am supposed to be doing but i don't think my brain wants to know. I have spent some time creating images in photoshop and getting to grips with the .msstyles but still no closer to getting anywhere with them. I would like to be able to create my own styles but really don't know where to start. Are there any help files or guidance notes in order to help a newbie like me or should I just give up and stick to just downloading pre-made styles. I did notice that there was a tutorial file on how-to-geek but it's been removed. Embarrassed

Thanks in advance for any comments
