1  Help / Windows 7 / Re: MsPaint & WordPad on: December 30, 2010, 01:15:24 am
BTNFACE:COLOR is everywhere. It is system wide. I like my black Paint because I have a black style. Black WINDOW:COLOR, Black APPWORKSPACE:COLOR, black MENU:COLOR, black BTNFACE:COLOR etc etc. It's not for everyone. You can't just have a black Paint or Wordpad without having a total black style because the changes needed are system wide Tongue

Yes, I'm aware that it's system wide. The color I thought that I could use would be close enough for other system areas but unfortunately I can't do it. I'm using an image for the status bar and won't be able to get the MsPaint to match close enough. For now, I'll just not show the ugly status bar in MsPaint.

You mean the background of the trackbar? Fonts & System Metrics > BTNFACE:COLOR:

Ok, thanks! I'll give it a try. Other than buttons shown in dialogs that have the classic look, do you know of any other elements that might be affected?

Never mind.

It works but only if you change everything to black. Any other color or combination of colors doesn't work. No idea why. So I can't make a map because it would be all black! That's perfect for me anyway.

Anybody know why this is the case?

Do you have the status bar showing in your all black MSPaint? If yes, how did you change the background color of the zoom toolbar in the status bar?
4  Help / Windows 7 / Re: MenuBar Button hoover on: May 03, 2010, 07:21:13 pm
Got this from MR. GRiM at http://virtualcustoms.net/index.php
works great Jerry
Uncheck this property to have a proper image instead.
Fonts, Colors & System Metrics > Fonts & System Metrics > FlatMenus:Bool

The image to edit for this is:
Toolbars, Headers and Rebar > Toolbars & Headers > Toolbar > Button

Hmm, nice find but it only works for explorer related windows and not IE or Windows Mail. With those two it reverts back to the classic style 3d border hover
5  Help / Windows 7 / Win 7 style builder on: February 03, 2010, 02:47:27 am
Does Win 7 style builder do any downloading and installing updates of some kind? Or does it need to launch stuff un-provoked from within the user space? I use AppGuard and this is what was blocked from launching. I went to the folder and the icons for the generated numbers below match those of Win 7 style builder icons in the Start Menu.

6  Tips and Visual Styles / Tips and Tricks / Re: Windows 7 Start Menu -- Mapped out. on: December 17, 2009, 05:19:02 am
Nice helper! Changed SearchView white background but it appears that it only uses a small portion of the pic you have outlined. Same goes for the NSCHost
7  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Windows 7 Locations ( LIST ) on: December 15, 2009, 05:11:16 am
Ya this post is pretty useless now that 1.5 is out, ..
Care to explain? I bought 1.5 and haven't found anything useful about it pertaining to documentation. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot though. I have seen about 3 or 4 locations that would pop up some semi helpful info in the bottom pane.
8  Help / Windows 7 / Reading Pane in Explorer on: December 15, 2009, 12:35:37 am
I've changed the background color in Explorer, Explorer Navigation and the Reading Pane on the righ side of Explorer. The reading pane defaults back to the whiteish color when a text/pic etc. is visible in there. I know that it can be changed by changing the Window background color in Advanced Properties but that also changes the color for alot of other elements that I wish not to change. Any way to limit it to just the reading pane when it's active?
9  Help / Windows 7 / All Programs Extended on: December 15, 2009, 12:29:53 am
I've changed the white background images on my start menu with semi success. All that I changed worked well. The one missing was the All Programs Extended background when hovered or clicked. I used this method
Code:
Start > StartMenu > Menus > Aero > KeyBoard:TreeView
Start > StartMenu > Menus > Aero > Hover:TreeView
which works for changing the background color but, the hover image when hovering over an item in the All Programs Extended background is lost. All I get is the border of the hover image. Any ideas how to fix that? It appears that the only part of the above pasted code that is needed to change the All Programs Extended background is this part
Code:
Start > StartMenu > Menus > Aero > Hover:TreeView

OK, It appears that only the basic elements need the colorfill property although it's still buggy. I can retain the hover image until an item is clicked such as a folder. Then it reverts back to just the border color instead of an image. I can lose focus on the start menu and the image hovers show again until clicking.
