2  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Style error and Image dimensions on: January 15, 2010, 04:50:21 am
Can anyone explane me why in some images I can't replace some images with bigger ones?

For example, if I replace the image of the Start Menu Search (Start Menu > Panels > Aero > Top > SearchView) with another one of 436x373 pixels, WSB gives me an error with the testing of the visual style.
I noticed the same on another part of the visual style, like the top taskbar.

Skinning windows 7 is not that good  Huh?

You could try editing that image (#885) in restorator or reshacker and see if that works.

Thx giveupzn Smiley
1 is "How to change start menu place list text color ? "

Start Menu > Panels > Aero > Top > PlacesList.

Change textcolor:color to desired color. Or if that option is not available simply click add property, change type: from bool to color, change the property to textcolor.

If you need to change programs list text color you can find it here: Start Menu > Panels > Aero > Top > ProgramsList

Hope this helps.

yep, PS can't handle 32Bit BMP's. Use Gimp and overlay your PNG, set the old Layer to 0% Opacy and save it again as BMP
Thanks for the reply!  8)

Also shows up for PC tablet input and show desktop.  For both big and small icon settings.

Any help much appreciated, thanks!

Use GIMP to edit those 32-bit bitmaps. It's not really black. It's just that no one ever made a thumbnail handler to show the transparency.

Thank you! This method worked best for me!  Wink

Solved!!
10  Help / Windows 7 / Re: Glow, glow, glow.... On Search Box Text? on: December 12, 2009, 07:08:48 pm

So were you able to add glow? If not I made a stylehack that adds glow to the search box text: http://nopd11.deviantart.com/art/Search-bar-text-glow-for-7-146392573.

Hope this helps.

Press Shift when you import for correct transparency.

Look at this:  http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?topic=744.0

Thanks for your reply!

Holding shift only applies to VSB and not reshacking.

To the OP: What image editor are you using to create the bitmap?

I'm using Photoshop CS3. Perhaps I'm going about it the wrong way.

What I did was extract user pic .bmp from explorer.exe, opened it in Photoshop, pasted a .png picture over it , deleted the original picture, made a black backround and saved it.

Perhaps this is the wrong way to go about this?

Hello, I'm having some trouble editing the user pic bmp in explorer.exe

Here is what I get >

As you can see, it has a black backround and the gloss is whiteish, not transparent like it should be =(
Anyone know how to edit this property correctly??
